I believe, made from 1/8" steel, it'll be plenty strong especially with 4 attachment points. The prototype, 1/16" aluminum, survived a beating in Death Valley with a single mounted on it.

Went in to have my door handle replaced since it's now gray instead of black. It too them two hours. Came out with two gouges on the rear bedside. Upside is dealer is taking responsibility and having it fixed.

Well, it was actually about 2 days ago but installed this new Westin Outlaw bumper and hitch. The receiver is hidden behind the license plate. The plug and chain tabs are also hidden as well as being up where they won't drag off road. I had to buy a new 8" drop hitch and retire the old 2" drop hitch.IMG_20180420_132325983.jpg

Didn't have enough money to color match and do the pro grille right now but found an easy alternative to get rid of a lot of the chrome. Found a guy on craigslist selling the 2018 honeycomb grille for $150 so I had to snatch it up. Love the look of the honeycomb grille. Now to save for the 2018 LED headlight conversion.

Hmmm, probably. I'd guess they'd have all the big sellers. But know that every now and then colour runs a change slightly. Which, I understand, is why some like to get parts custom painted... and why Sparks no longer paints anything they can't "match" to a truck on site.

It wasn't terrible. It was a little tough getting the wires into the doors. I ended up using 6 individual wires instead of running a 6-conductor wire with one jacket. I think that made it easier to fit through the boot, but you have to tape them to keep them together as you route them through the truck. I used 24 gauge wire. You do have to use a ratcheting crimper to attache the pins to the wires, and the pins need a little modification to fit into the connectors. You have to cut off a little tab from the top of the pins at the mirrors and a-pillar(auto-dim) and I had to file down a bump on the top of the pins at the mirror switch.

The biggest snag I hit was the fact that the folding mirrors do not have the BSM LEDs in them, so I had to install LEDs in the sail panels above the tweeters. They turn on fine when I first start the truck, but it throws a malfunction message whenever the BSM or RCTA system is triggered. I think it's because of the resisters used on the little 3mm LEDs. The OEM LEDs must be straight 12-volt with no resistors.

My truck did not have power folding mirrors. Toyota stopped putting them on the Limited trim in '14 when they introduced the 1794. I got a pair of '12 Limited mirrors from Craig's list. I wanted to keep everything OEM. The '12 mirrors have everything except the BSM LEDs (power fold, auto-dim, heat, signal, puddle lights). I only have pics of the LEDs in the sail panels. The '12 mirrors are identical to the '18 mirrors except for a little plastic ridge where it mounts to the truck. It's either decorative or possibly aerodynamic for wind resistance, like the "mudflaps" in front of the front tires.

I got a set of OEM mirrors from a '12 Limited on Craig's List. I wanted to keep things OEM, but brand new mirrors are around $1100. The mirror glass alone is $330 per side.

I found a used mirror switch on ebay, part number 84870-0C040. There is an 8-pin switch with black connector for the trucks with the memory options. I was looking for the 10-pin non-memory switch with white connector. This switch is the only one that I've heard of working, I have read that it's more difficult with the 8-pin as it connects to an ECU in the door panels for memory. I also used some fabric tape and 1/4 split loom to clean it up.

I used 3mm LEDs from Amazon, but these are actually causing an issue when the BSM system is triggered. I think it's because of the resistor. I may have to use straight 12-volt LEDs or see about jumping it out so the BSM system has a 12-volt circuit without going through the LED, then the LED can be a sub-circuit. If you don't have the BSM system in your truck, you won't have to worry about it.

For puddle lights, these branch off of the driver's foot well light, but that is a negative trigger. You may need a relay to change the negative trigger to a positive in order to utilize the common ground at the mirror. Otherwise you need to disconnect the common ground at the mirror and use the negative from the footwell light instead. What I did was cut the common ground and the BSM+ wired at the mirror, wired the mirror end of the common ground to the footwell light and wired the door/truck end of the common ground to the new LED negative. I wired the door/truck end of the BSM+ wire to positive on the new LED.

I used a combination of these threads for info:
