Bought an 07 Tundra 215K miles on er. Was driving in mountains here in Denver and my 4lo and VSC off started blinking. P0986 threw: Shift Solenoid "E" Control Circuit High...FML. A/TM: B02A/ AB60F.

What to do? What are the steps I should take to confront this?

    Thanks all!

    Kelly

Hold the Line! If you are not holding the line, abandon your ship. Destruction is inevitable without more to hold the line!
My guess is it could be damaged wiring running between the transmission and ecm or you might just try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes then hooking it back up, sometimes it goes away and never comes back.
