I think it varies from truck to truck. SDHQ mentioned that they have to cut the tie rods on like every 2 or 3 out of 10.

Personally, I think it has a lot to do with the Camburg arms and the amount of caster they require. They were heim joint arms and I think they needed some more adjustment?

    Did you have to?

That’d make sense. I’ll be getting UCA’s at some point, and the alignment/caster issues have turned me off in regards to Camburg.

Don't get me wrong, Camburg is great stuff. But I've run their UCAs (bj) and Icon's. For what I want I'm going with MCM. Like @TheBeast said, It only :spending:

Aren’t caster numbers similar between the MCM and TC control arms? I seem to remember @dcsleeper408’s being around 4*.

This has been a pretty big issue for me so I've done a lot of investigation. Mark's (@dcsleeper408 ) caster is about 4.5* if I remember correctly. There's a bend in the TC Uca in the rear portion of the arm. because of that slight bend I don't believe you can get much more than 3*. MCM are straight, Camburg is angled back, Icon has more bend than TC.....etc.
So, what's wrong with 3*? Nothing that I know of. At 2.3* I don't like the way the truck feels, it felt great with Camburg at 6* but I think that's a little too much. This is all my personal preference in terms of caster and how I like my truck to feel. I expect other people will prefer different settings. :notsure:

@zcarpenter92 i forgot my last alignment #’s (4.5 driver/4.9 passenger I believe)but I was having issues bringing the caster to match. Got em close as possible. Some camber was sacrificed. Toe was cool.
I think this issue is coming from the driver lean after bumping the rxt packs to 3rd setting.
Before that I was pulling 4-6* every time. I ran 6* ever since I got the mcm uca. Dropped it down bc I was getting some issues with my rack. Possibly just my intermediate shaft making noise again.

I'll keep this in mind when I order UCA's. Granted I haven't done any wheeling with the Tundra yet, and when I do it won't be high speed stuff since we don't have deserts here in CO.

---" much more than 3*."
3.5* is a whole lot better than 2.3.

Haha well you guys still have Death Valley in the same state as you though, I'd assume thats a "go fast" type trip

On stock arms I'm sitting at 2.4 and 2.6*. Sounds like a significant improvement to me!

Here are numbers from my 2016 with TC at 3” lift for reference. Expect around 4+ degrees caster at 2.5” lift. My cams where almost neutral as well, no struggles.

FWIW we don't have alignment issues with our Icon 3.0 and Icon billet adjustable uppers. And we're running 37" tires on a 2" lift.

We prefer about 3.5* caster because it self centers on the road nicely, but also doesn't have so much caster that rock crawling becomes cumbersome. As you get into the 5-6* caster realm, the amount of off-centerness between the contact patch and steering axis can become an issue in tight rock gardens and add stress to the rack as it tries to lift the truck and turn the wheel at the same time. Imagine the face of the tire against a rock and partway up it, and as you turn one way or another without rolling forward or backward, the steering rack is effectively lifting the front of the truck.

I think they’re referencing our broken steering rack. Which I’m not sure is related to alignment numbers as much as general use and abuse.

Ironically though, our alignment last week, right before the blown rack, was in the 4.5 to 4.9 caster range. I had planned to go back and have it decreased after the trip. But instead I did this and need a whole new alignment anyway.
