Special shout out to iHacker for his harness and especially his personal support during this project. I broke the project up into two days on my 2015 limited. I spent about 4 hours doing the stuff in the cab and bringing the wires forward under the hood on the first day. Then today I spent about 6 hours taking care of everything in the front. Everything went very smoothly. The lights arrived in like 2 days from Roman at Cool Springs.

3 pages of private discussion with iHacker, he really went above and beyond, laid everything out for the project very clearly. the new light housings are great. I could not be more satisfied with the function of the system, it's exactly how you would expect from the factory.

if you're taking on this project its a good opportunity to do the anytime fog light mod while you're right there working with the wiring harnesses under the dash.

Did the 2018 conversion on my 2014 1794. Used the TRS cable. $90, no Morimoto, super clean install and extremely easy. Their instructions for repinning the blinker are incorrect but all your guys’ photos helped fix that. Been running it for about a month and no issues.

how does the DTRL dimming feature work with the TRS harness? when you use your high beams are the low beams on simultaneously?

On my 1794 the dimming is working properly as well as dual beam on high.

So am I understanding that all I need is this Morimoto harness adapter and OEM LED headlights and I'm in business? I have a 2017 SR5 with amber DRL and halogens with the level feature that is a roll knob on the dash - is this "autolevel" or "manual level"?)

a great thread to use is the FIRST post of ihackers harness for sale thread in the merchandise subforum. all the info is there and it walks you through the entire install step by step. admittedly, i did not find that until after my install but ihacker talked me through.

the TRS harness is intriguing and very clean, i havent seen much info on it, no one has posted a dedicated thread detailing it and discussing which is odd. the nice thing about ihackers harness is he does tie into the factory DTRL circuit so the new LEDs work exactly as they would from the factory, in regard to dimming, emergency brake on/off ect.

as far as your leveling feature, its manual control (in owners manual)

if you are on the fence order the lights from Roman. honestly there was nothing wrong with the old halogens to me, i could see just fine. But the new LED lights are a huge improvement, they look great on the vehicle. I wish toyota kept the lower LED bar on like on the previous platinums, it was more subtle i liked it better, im indifferent to the wrap around LED.

I read several pages of posts starting with the FIRST post, but this last one on the TRS harness seems to do the same thing but much simpler and cleaner. It also seems like an easier install. That's what prompted my questions. Thanks for the level feature response. I wanted to confirm what I suspected and didn't think to look in my manual (DOH!).

It looks like ihacker has released another version of his harness this afternoon with no morimoto controller!

this^ . i feel like i need a shower after anything morimoto or TRS. my experience is it is typically complete junk.
I will prob purchase ihackers 2.0 version harness as a spare to have on hand for when the morimoto controller ****'s the bed.

I got iHacker harness first version, and it's great quality, very simple and anyone could do the swap with his explanation.
Probably i would get second version but at the time he did not make new versions without motocontrol

Mine has been working perfectly for the past 6 months. Just last night I niticed the left headlight and DRL stopped working. Checked the fusses and they are good.

    What should look at next?

Did the 2018 headlights swap, best mod to date! I use the TRS harness, hooked it up according to their instruction. Everything works, but wasn’t able to control/dim the drl. So I switch some wire, add a relay. Now everything operate as it should! Huge shout out to Thomasbus337, ihacker and everyone else who contributed on this thread!!!

Does anyone have pictures of the black housing LED headlights? I have the chrome already, but I read there is a black housing set now available, so I ordered a set of black ones at my local dealer using the part numbers that I found on this forum, and they arrived chrome.

Does anyone have them with the black housing?!? I can't find pics online to see what they look like

Thanks man! I ended up going with them. I was a little bummed to discover they were black chrome, not true black, and it was a tough pill to swallow being that I already had the 2018 chrome version lights, and dished out another big chunk of change just to get a slightly darker shade of chrome. :( but it looks good at least, I dunno if $800 dollars worth of good, but oh well lol.
