Been thinking for a while about trading in my Tundra...and then I've been reading about others who have made similar choices. You see, I only drive ~6,000 miles a year - I work from home and most of my mileage is to the airport and back or for small yard jobs on the weekend. I haul a small utility and cargo trailer and rarely fill the bed of the truck. Not to mention the $$ I've spent on modding my Tundra...because it has been FUN! But I love my Tundy...

From a recent article I read about the Honda Ridgeline, "Think about it: do most people really need an insane hauling and towing rating, or do they just need something that has a bed and can carry stuff on occasion? This is a fantastic truck for normal folks."

I think I must be one of those "normal folks" he was talking about, but for the little that I use it as a truck and not a highway queen, I could have something more reasonable. As I get older priorities change...but I sure love my toys! And when I have the need for speed or loud rumble, I'll just take the GTO for a spin...

So, yesterday I traded my 2016 Tundra Platinum for a 2019 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E. It is a wonderful mid-size truck (seems like the same size as my 2002 Tundra), but handles like a nicely appointed car. Lots of nice features and comfort including a bed "trunk", dual-action tailgate, comfortable seating, Apple CarPlay, Honda Sensing, smooth, quiet ride, great audio system, to mention a few, but it doesn't ride like a truck and that's OK for me. Don't get me wrong, the Tundra was the best big truck I have ever owned, but its time for a change.

I've really enjoyed all of the conversations, tips and tricks shared here and I hope I've helped as many of you as have helped me. You all are really a great bunch and respect that we all have different needs.

Over the next few weeks, expect to see a "garage sale"...I'll go through the garage and post some of the "extra Tundy parts" I have in case anyone needs something. For instance, I have my original 2016 Platinum headlights and fog lights, TRD Pro Skid Plate and some extra bolts, a Platinum grille insert, stock muffler and more (I'll post the list with pictures).

    Well, here's the new beauty...

You gotta make the decisions that bets fits your needs. If a Tundra is no longer practical the it was time for a change.

I’ve seen members here buy wheelchair access Dodge vans, others saying goodbye selling their Tundras and being well wished by all. Prayers given for the sick.

Do what’s right in your life CT, nothing wrong with that!

(Edit: lol, didn’t see the last 2 comments, and jokers too)

    Nice "truck" lol

But seriously congrats, those Hondas have some great features to them and sounds like it'll do just what you need it to.

Should have kept the TUNDRA and just took Uber.

Maybe you can request an Uber that has a TUNDRA.

Right on man! Do what’s good for you. I literally hate the look of that Honda but if you dig it then cool. I bet it rides great!
    Good luck.

I’d be interested in that skid plate.

Good luck with your new vehicle. Only you know what’s best for the situation.

Stick around, there are a few of us dumbasses that sold our Tundra’s lurking around here.....because this is by far, the best site I’ve ever been involved with.

Eek, congrats. One thing to think about, though, after all the money you put into mods and the pretty big loss you no-doubt took on the trade in, it's gonna take you a long time to make up for it with the Ridgeline (those aren't cheap), especially only driving 6k miles per year. If you just wanted something smaller though, I get it. Enjoy!

If you only drive 6k miles a year the gas mileage doesn’t matter. Why not have an awesome truck.

Last Honda we had was CR-V. We loved that one and hated to let it go when we had to trade in for a Sienna because of of our third baby.
Honda is very reliable. Ridgeline should serve you well. I like their tailgate. Cool feature.

Boooo! I thought the we learned our lessson with the El Camino and the Ranchero?

I guess no one let Subaru or Honda know that.

Anyway, enjoy it for now. I have a feeling you'll be back in a real truck by the time you make your next vehicle purchase.

Nice! I thought about getting a Ridgeline before I bought my Tundra too. Makes perfect sense to me but I really wanted ball coolers.

Sorry to see another Silver Sky go, but sounds like the Ridgeline fits your needs better and I wish you all the best. While I consider myself normal (lol) and don't always "need" many of my trucks capabilities, I do enjoy very much the comfort, roominess, power, looks, etc. and find it very nice to drive on a daily basis.
