Did you install resonator? Did you try without first?

I drove without it to get clamps and them again after I put it on. I like it better with it on. But I didn't want too loud, I was actually wanting an 8".
The resonator cuts down on the drone a lot, with it off i even noticed some vibration in the cab, maybe I'm over thinking it but I thought I felt it with my left foot on the dummy pedal. After the resonator it was all gone

I swear I could hear a difference in sound outside the truck without the resonator. It sounded better I think. I should have driven it a little more before taking the plunge but too late now!! Still sounds pretty sweet!!

@dirtydeeds , a while back on TT, I thought I heard that you might someday be making a curved "cover plate" that you could slap back on your exhaust if you wanted to take the resonator off. Did that ever happen?

    Many. Lol
I just put the 8" system on my 2016 Tundra after having a Magnaflow cat back system on my truck. The Magnaflow was too loud and there was a lot of drone in the cabin. This 8# system is MUCH better! I drove it first without the resonator and then installed the resonator. I like it better with the resonator. By the way... if you lower the spare tire, you can drill the 2" hole in the tail pipe without having to remove it. Thanks Keith! Great talking to you!

Ok.. so I’m an exhaust dummy, sorry in advance for all my dumb questions. I figured I’ll ask here so everyone can see the response, I didn’t see an FAQ on the website or these answered before.

I’m looking at the budget system vs standard aluminum 8” from Dirty Deeds for my ‘17 5.7ffv CM SR5 (tow package & 285/55/20).
I’m leaning toward the 8” given that I don’t want a ton of noise lower in the rpm band (cruising at or under 2k rpm).
I was going to do the x pipe, but since it hurts lowend power and costs significantly more (would need to buy pro pipes too) so I decided against it.

    Standard Budget vs 8” Standard:
The only bit I saw was “raspiness at certain point in the RPM band, but it’s narrow” for the budget system. I don’t mind a little raspiness, but what point in the RPM band?
About how wide is the range?
What is the reason for this raspiness?

Thank you all for the feed back in this thread (and the forum in general) helped answer most of my questions (6” vs 8”, aluminum vs SS, dumped differences)

Just installed my 8” standard and I love it! Not too loud, but you know it’s there when it should be. Keith @dirtydeeds answered all my questions over the phone and helped me select the right system! Highly recommend!

    Three questions Keith;

    1. Is that 3-10hp & 10-20 ft/lbs torque to the wheels, or at the crank?

    2. Is the 8" system about as loud as the TRD duals from Toyota? I liked the sound, but wanted a little more. Would you recommend 6" with resonators in that case?

    3. Do all your exhausts come with hemholz to reduce drone or is that extra?
