While this may have been mentioned before or may just be rather obvious I figured I would post this to help anyone else that may be interested in doing the same.

I installed a set of 2016 Toyota Tundra door panels in my 2010 Tundra today. Direct fitment and very straight forward install. Simply remove the old door panels and install the new ones.

Just wanted to post some info up as I found nothing when I originally searched for compatibility between generations.

Thanks! I’ve been wanting to change mine out. Good to know it’s a direct swap.

I'd like to see how that came out. I wanna go the other way and put the older panel in my 3rd gen to recover the little storage in the arm rest.

Apologies for the major delay in response to this post. I’ve attached a few pictures of the front panels.

It’s a Lexus GS300 steering wheel. I just rebadged it with the Toyota emblem.

No advantage really. When I purchased my truck it was in rough shape. Steering wheel and air bag both needed replacing and I decided to upgrade to a decent wood grain steering wheel.

I sourced them from eBay. I had to look around for a while and buy them all individually from different used parts dealers. If you’re patient you can find good deals on them. I spent around $500 on all four I believe. Also if you find panels that do not include window switches you can buy the bezel from the dealer for pretty cheap and your old window switches will mount right up. I had to do this for the driver side door panel.

Great idea. Is this on a double cab or crew cab? Also, did everything line up correctly(pins, clips, etc.)?

Off topic but do you think the new 3rd gen model steering wheel would work as direct swap with gen 2 as well?

Thats a nice bit of info. My 07 panels are starting to show thier age and a gen 3 swap sounds better than painting or heat gunning them.

It will mount up just fine but if you want functional steering wheel controls you may need to do a bit of work to make it work properly. I was considering doing the same swap originally but I found this wheel and air bag for a good price and couldn’t pass it up.

Thanks for this OP! I don't know how I never found this post before. I've been looking to go to <'14 panels just for the puddle lights. I have no idea why they took them out (like the a-pillar grab handle) but they're much more functional than any aftermarket side mirror-mounted puddle lights in my opinion. Plus, like 831 said, those little storage cubbies under the window switches were nice. I'm just curious why you wanted the newer panels. Makes me wonder if I'm missing some cool new thing that compensates for what they took away. Besides the lights & cubbies I thought they were identical.

Also, way late I know, but for Zoren I believe the steering wheel cores from '07 on are interchangeable, along with many years of 4-Runners & Sequioas. You just have to switch over any switches, bezels, cruise control, etc. to maintain full functionality of your current vehicle.

Puddle lights...? Are you saying there are puddle lights (or at least pre-wires) in the 07 - 13 panels?

Puddle lights, courtesy lights, whatever you want to call them, I know my '08 had them in the bottoms of all four doors. Why they deleted those, alont with the driver's side a-pillar handle is beyond me. That truck also had the same molded in can/bottle holder pockets in the rear door panels that the fronts doors had/have.

To clarify, those lights were in the bottoms of the door panels, not in the mirrors.

Cool. Mine doesn't have them but maybe they're prewired...? Another thing I'm gonna check this weekend.

Pull the 7.5A interior light fuse. Drill 11/16" holes in the locations on the doors for mounting. Cut the OEM connectors off and solder on the new ones. The LEDs are polarity sensitive. Hook everything up. Reinstall the fuse and voila. Done.
