My front tires are both cupping due to the ghetto pro comp leveling shocks that came on my truck when I bought it used last year being totally blown. Do any of you know the dangers of driving on cupped tires? I also tow a 6000 lb. trailer in the summer with my family. Are there increased risks with the tires blowing when they are cupped? There is just over half of the tread left on them so I'm pretty bummed at the idea of having to purchase a new set of tires! Then again I'm also excited at the idea because the BFG KO2's have never balanced well for me and I hate the way they drive. The BFG tires break traction way too often when they shouldn't as some other members have commented on. I'm mostly on here to ask about the dangers of driving on them can I get away with driving on them for a while can I tow with them?

The cupping self will not cause any danger, as long as it is not worn beyond the usable surface in the low spots. I.e. for example, if the high points between the cups are at 17/32 and the low areas are at 9/32 it will cause a lot of road noise, but will be safe. If the low spots are worn all the way down, i.e. completely bald spots, then you might have a concern.

Thank you! It's time to rotate the tires anyway, so I'm thinking of moving the fronts to the rear after I fix the suspension issue up front. No bald spots so I think I will be good with them in the rear towing........?:transformer:

Just gonna be noisy. But, I like noise, I'm weird.

I’ve seen cupped tires last a long time. My employees used to run through one cheap suspension setup after another and we would replace their shocks every other set of tires. They would get a full 35,000 out of a set before the cupping started again. My guys used to run about 2000 lbs in the truck but never tow a trailer. Unless they are really cupping badly then I wouldn’t be too concerned, though I would suggest getting your suspension situation fixed before you burn more tires out unnaturally. It might help your alignment issue as well
