I have the platinum style retro drl and that strip is slowly going. So, time to rebuild 'em but thanks. You said you were planning to open up the AO lights? If you do you might be able to make some adjustment to the projectors, re-aim or even try to retro in some Acura RDX projectors.o_O

Man oh man. I love the way these look. I wanted so badly to be sent a “good set”. I just opened the box. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves...

This of course was just the drivers side. I didn’t even bother opening the passenger side. Like I said, I love the way these look but for $599, I’d expect OEM quality and what I see is far from it. I’ll be contacting alphaowls tomorrow.

I saw someone wrote a complain in their Instagram pic :p seems like they don’t wanted to discuss the problem publicly and suggested a DM :D:D, try to return them while you can, I knew since the start when they posted the output pictures the headlights not worth the price, at leats Koito did a great job with the 2018 OEMs considering they are reflector based light but the lights spreading is better and hey we have a good looking LED DRL is awesome.

Who knows that guy? name looks familiar to me. :playball:

Yes lol they offered my money back and they would cover shipping cost. I passed on the offer, I’m working long hours Monday to Saturday, I have too many things in my to do list... Plus I’m not in the states and they would refund me only when they received them and in original condition, so if it got lost or damaged along the way I would be out of $ and headlights.

I decided the heck with it, I’ll rock them for a while, possibly have my OEMs retrofitted meanwhile. When I put my factory lights back on, sell the alphaowls locally for whatever I can get for them.

I had the day off today (holiday) and since nothing is open around here I was bored so I put them on, I really like how they look, but the output is like as if they were spot lights, not near wide enough as someone else here also mentioned. Plastic is filmsy, tabs in the headlight were the grill clips go in and the ones that screw in the header panel bend easily. OEMs are solid.

Basically in my opinion I would score them:

    Looks: 7/10
    Fitment 8/10
    Output 2/10
    Build Quality 2/10

Honestly anyone considering them, don’t buy them, go for 18’ LEDs or Retros. If you really like them and don’t care about output, just wait for knockoffs to appear on fleabay cheap.

They look nice, maybe a Retrofit with Acura ILX projectors can fit there don’t think RDX or MDX can fit in,

Retrofit with 2016-18 Toyota Avalon LED projectors would be a nice option too

I agree the tacomas finally caught up. My 07 4runner had projectors. Its sad that I see cheaper vehicles with better headlights.

I would be very careful about buying these headlights. I joined the forums just to warn others. I've been having issues with my light output since the moment I installed them. I'm currently speaking to their customer service team, I'll report back with more on my honest review soon.

My final review of these headlights: Highly disappointed. Don’t buy them. Spend the extra couple hundred on the OEM LED headlights or buy something cheaper with equal quality. The light output on the Spyder headlights is better and the price of the Spyder headlights make more sense. Spending $600-$800 on these is a joke considering the quality. There’s actually a set with the same design branded with a different name on eBay. So Alpha Owls must be buying these from China or somewhere and rebranding them for a few extra bucks.

They look great. No doubt about that. I love the design and how they look both off and on.

Fitment is okay. Once they’re on they look like they fit similar to OEM. The holes in the plastic tabs at the top of the headlight that mount under the hood were too small and I had to drill them out to get it to fit properly.

Light output is terrible. The super bright spotlights create so much contrast its hard to see anything other than what the spotlight is reaching. Which isn’t very far. Thankfully I live in an area where there’s almost always street lights. Otherwise I would struggle to see the road. High beams are not even, and barely make a difference in visibility.

Here’s a link to the low beam/high beam

    https://i.imgur.com/2t0hu8c.mp4

They also advertise in a few posts on Instagram that the white LED strip is DRL. Nope. Only comes on with the parking light. They give a lot of misinformation.

Build quality is questionable. My headlights have dust particles inside the housing. They advertise that you can swap the OEM leveling motors from the OEM headlights. This is not true. They even say they don’t on some older IG posts. But now they say they do work. Maybe they’ve made some changes. But they definitely sent me an older set if that’s the case. But they won’t own up to that assumption. The alignment rods are different lengths. I’ve swapped leveling motors to aftermarket headlights before and didn’t have these issues. I’ve been unable to adjust the beam height since day one, even with the manual leveling adjuster that the headlights came with. So I’m stuck with headlights pointed at the ground. When I swapped the OEM headlights back, leveling worked again. So it’s clearly an issue with these aftermarket headlights.

    Looks: 8/10
    Fitment: 4/10
    Output: 1/10
    Build Quality: 2/10

I must say, their customer service responses are quick. When I sent them an email request regarding my issues, they called me within the hour. Unfortunately, they called me to basically tell me that it’s my fault and I’m doing something wrong. We’ve been going back and forth now and every response from them is basically them blaming me. They’re showing no willingness to help me. They just want me to send them in and maybe get some feedback. At my expense, of course.

Even if they gave me an option to return the headlights for an exchange or refund, they’ll want me to ship them back, inspect them, and then maybe issue a refund or exchange if they are in like new condition. Now that I had to drill the tabs to get them to fit, I can only assume they would again blame me for the issues. Considering how they have responded so far, I assume I’ll be out money and headlights if I send them in for inspection.

Based on previous users responses and feedback, this will go no where. So I just threw $600 away for headlights that look good but don’t perform as functional headlights.

Stay away from Alpha Owls (or any other branded with this design) if you want to be able to see at night. Funny that they have slogans on their Instagram posts that say things like “see the night in a different light” and “own the night”. Lol okay. You mean by not being able to see at all?
