soon as I got my truck had to get them in storage for full view out back. Especially when I show off full roll down rear window when another make truck is behind me. Full disclosure my kids are 13&15 and do not seem to mind. I also have a snap on panoramic view wide angle mirror that I had on my Sienna before. Peace. D

Nice! My kids are younger and definitely don't use those headrests, just took them out as a trial this week.

Now I want to buy something OEM looking to cover the area or the holes lol

Unless you are a family of dwarves, I think your 13 and 15 year old kids will mind not having the headrests is you were ever rear-ended or in a major frontal collision. Whiplash is no laughing matter, I can say with 100% certainty. I have run with mine removed, but that's with younger kids in booster seats below the top of the bench seat back, or no rear passengers.

    Something to think about.

They’re not there for comfort. It’s so your rear passengers’ heads don’t go through the back window in a rear ending.

Those other vehicles probably dont even notice the rear window and are just wondering where the hell your head rests went.

I took mine out. The only people ever back there are the young grandkids, rarely. I did keep them in case I have taller passengers at some point.

They do serve a real purpose. If nobody is back there, fine, leave them off. But without them, someone could easily die by breaking their neck or smashing their head into the glass during a crash.

I'm not a fan of ANY of the headrests in the Tundra. They're poorly made and have a ridiculous forward cant in the front two seats. https://www.forbes.com/sites/jimgor...at-the-top-of-car-seat-problems/#10ab1ee10028

First thing I did when I brought the truck home. Visibility is so much better. Can't see a thing with them back there. No kids, so no worries. Just my dog, whose head is always out the window anyway lol.

    Still rocking the stock height.
I removed the middle one, but only my youngest rides there in a car seat. When he is out of the car seat I will put it back in.

I took mine out too. My kids are still on car seats so no safety issue there. Way easier to see. I’ve been taking them out of my work trucks for ever!

Yep, removed and stored in a box since day 2.
In 3 years I’ve had adult passengers back there 3 times.

I just took the middle one out, I've got a topper. Makes it easier to reach through to the cooler for the guys in back. Plus the dog likes to stick his head through.

Mine are in and they have never been in the way. There is a huge window to look through. The head rests only block the view of the bed, not what's beyond that.

I just keep mine folded forward, it took me a few days to figure out they do that. The visibility is pretty bad with them up. My dog is my only regular rear passenger and she doesn't seem to mind.

I remember a 60 Minutes report years ago about a guy who died from a minor fender bender because his pickup didn't have headrests and his head hit the glass. Don't think it even broke the glass, but it killed him. Seems like a pretty obvious thing to have headrests, but back then they didn't.

LOL, some Tundra owners don't even know their back window can go down. Was pulling in the grocery store a few weeks ago and had my window down and another Tundra CM was behind me. After we both had parked he stopped me an asked what year my truck was because his didn't have the rear window option. I told him mine was a 2017 and he then asked what package I got that included that feature because his was a 2017 as well. I walked him back to his truck and showed him where the button was and he felt really, really stupid.

Oh and if you think the headrests block the view in the Tundra you should try a Jeep Wrangler. It was horrible in 2015 Wrangler Unlimited and that back window is tiny compare to the Tundra.

That's funny. My wife is on her 2nd GX 460 lease. While looking at the new one we were shown that the side mirrors folded in electrically with a button left of the steering wheel. While cleaning out the one being turned in I noticed that it had the same button / feature and tested. We never new that that we had motorized folding mirrors!!!

I have the passenger side removed so that I can see when I merge onto the road at the bottom of our hill. I've got a kid back there frequently but she rides in the middle. If there is an accident I figure that's the safest place for her.

Being Blue, I don’t think that will be a problem. Now, with the Super White this whiplash concern is real!
