does it require the key to open it? or just the combo?

 

Just the combo. Put the key somewhere (else) safe so, if you forget the combo you can start over.

It’s awesome, no regrets. I’ve added gun magnets to hold various things also

 

Reviving an old thread since I didn't find much current about these safes.
I've seen this safe, and ones very similar on Amazon.

Even though these are "genuine Toyota" its not like Toyota actually makes them.
Any reason to believe the Amazon version for half the price is any different than these?
I assume they are all made in the same factory in China, and Toyota just purchases them from a vendor and resells them as Toyota brand.

Anyone have experience with the no name versions of what appears to be the same safe?

 

Nope. But I have one of these and it was made in the USA. Can’t speak for the knock-off.

 

You're saying the Toyota version is made in the US?

 

Mine bought in 2017 was. I posted the manufacturer in this or another thread. Did you already read through?

Hmm, that's interesting. So the one Sparks was selling looks like it eventually became the "genuine Toyota" version, and is indeed made in the USA. Good to know, thanks for the info.
