Just like women, they turn out to be something that you never expected or hoped that they would be.

You have this idea that you think that you know what your getting yourself into (what you hope and dream that your getting yourself into) and then reality sets in.

She's not the smoken hot bombshell that you wanted here to be.

Sorry but have to say that my truck has only turned into about half of what I thought that I was getting.

My trucks have turned out to be dependable and than any women and have not once ever given me any shit what so ever, not up until now.

I have to admit that its only been one year since I bought her. The VERY HARDY Toyota reliability and LASTS FOREVER that I based this marriage on has not happened yet BUT from what Ive experienced so far, the truck is telling me that the "mechanical breakdown" is not going to be so much the mechanical, its the damn computers that run everything that are going to be the nails that shut these trucks coffins to never be repaired and driven again. Computer lets it live and computer lets it die. I like it when it was just parts that wore out and that you needed to replace.

I grew up old school Toyota and still am but this very sensitive little TUNDRA, IT guy shit is absolute crazy.

Too bad we can not get a NON computerized version that just starts, drives, stops, and will do it forever like Toyotas used to.

I have no clue why they felt like they had to over complicate this trucks brains so much to the point where they turned into an absolute little pansy with the slightest of insignificant sniffles of the limp wristed soul of a computer program.

One little bulb out and I can not even start the F*CKER

Every issue so far is all F*)%ing computer related.

DONT EVEN WANT TO DISCUSS or to get into any further. Just look at this forum, nothing but bullshit constant computer issues.

Everyone helping on here should be on the payroll and getting a very fat check from Toyota.

Sorry but truck has turned out to be a disappointment after driving 1.5 million miles in 6 Tacos, two Land Cruisers, a new FJ and my old BJ.

Too the point that I don't give a crap about it anymore.

Just going to drive it like a truck shout be WORKED, driven, and slightly abused. I guess that I can call it a pussy when it breaks down and make lots of fun of it while its up on the lift in the shop.

Latest from Alaska (and some good news about the truck. Not ready to divorce my Tundra just yet)

Snow is melting and getting going with building my house is finally on. Everything is an ice block for at least 5.5 months up here and its finally thawing out.

I did use the winch to get my 4wheeler out of the snow bank and back up a hill today. Winch worked perfectly, truck just sat there.

4low is bad ass when you need it (as long as the micro chip is not feeling like it needs to go to a "safe place" and acting like a snow flake)

Ive only used it about 3 times and it was just to see how the truck would climb some steep icy slopes. Works great if do not let the wheels spin. Just climbs right up no issues.

Running Nitto Terra Graplers and they have handled the ice and snow very well.

Ran in 4 high for the past 5 mounts 99% of the time and so far no issues.

Rear LSD is awesome along with the 4:88's. 4X4 worked great all winter on the snow and the LSD was excellent. Both rear wheels hook up every time ;) (less work for the computer too)

FYI: Clean Black truck time / distance after leaving the wash bay in Alaska is only good for about 100'. How ever fast you want to travel 100' it is your call, you will still be dirty again by then.

Now your back to a dirty but was clean black truck. At least my hood stays shiny for a little while.

Truck has been good so far don't get me wrong. I have had my share of self induced issues doing anything electrical in the way of mod's but some no my doing and completely random little stuff out of left field that got me pissed off.

It still has fired and drove but my worries are for how long. Im used to GETTING NO ISSUES for a very long time out my Toyota's.

Just on the fence if I should go ahead and get a divorce and rid of it or wait around and let this possibly get way worse.

The moose and bears are thawing out too. No bears just yet but I know that they are out there.

The little Trout and Salmon are about to wake up too ;)

First off, it is so frustrating when a few issues happen. I have never been to Alaska, but one can assume that service can be limited where as I can go to several different dealerships in a matter of minutes.

I'm just going to say, I wouldn't buy a 1984 Toyota pickup for my only vehicle. Most people want the nice features offered today, which also includes a slew of safety items that were not offered "back in the day." My Dad had a 84' 4x4 extended cab. He had issues with that as well. As of recent, his 06 Toyota minivan has been a huge disappointment, and his 00' Toyota minivan has double the miles and has had no issues at all. All their other Toyota's...no issues at all (2 Corollas and 1 Tacoma).

I haven't really seen a "constant" issue with computers as well. The 2018 has definitely been interesting if one tries to lift it, but other than that, do not see much else going on. We have the stereo head unit linking up with phones and what not....

Use caution with electrical mods. This can be a cascading problem that really just causes so many issues. I would be a little worried changing out a stereo head unit these days since so many controls are passed through.

In reality, only you can decide if the truck is for you or not. I bailed. The Tundra is one of my favorite all time vehicles and would consider myself an enthusiast. Hell, tonight I seen a picture of a bad ass Tundra that made me want to go out and buy one in the morning. However, I just can't justify one for my needs. It would just sit in my driveway and rust.

Good luck with whatever you do.
