Damn Zack I forgot to look at how you made those military clamps work. I have the same battery and got those clamps to use when I installed it but the factory + wire has a 90° in it at the clamp and wouldn’t fit right so I just used stock type clamps.
Trip was fun and you were hauling ass through those woops!

Heck yea man it was a fun day. Not sure about the clamps though, the kit I bought had everything I needed minus tools to make it easy so I didn’t have any issues

Have you heard that Matt at MCM fab is working on a 3.0" bypass kit with SUA and 2.5 hydro bump with no bed chop? Still under development, but may work for your needs.

I'm in the same boat about my bed, still have to use my truck as a truck, but the want is strong for LT rear and SUA.

Also, neat truck. Looks like it's coming along.

Yea my buddy Craig is his guinea pig. There's a few of us waiting to see how it turns out. I'm either doing that, the camburg kit and staying soa, or just going full retard and doing sua and LT

Full retard or bust. Triple dog dare you.

Ah yeah... I see you're a part of the SGU thread. I think your buddy is n2deep maybe? Or something like that? I pm'd him about results. I'm curious about them also before I pull the trigger.

Yup that's him. First he's gotta get his truck done, then he's gotta wheel it for a bit so we can see how it performs. If it's tits I'll probably go that direction.

Not too much updates. Changed all my lenses to ambers, and painted the sr5 grill to color match. The grill is pretty jacked and after my fenders it doesn’t fit right so it’s rubbing super hard on my light bar when it pops out after every little hit. It is what it is no biggie.

Just got back from a quick trip in the CA desert with some of the sgu boys. Had to cut it a little short after completely blowing my driver side rear shock and my passenger side leaking. I smashed it too hard too many times on the top mount and it cracked the shock body where it was hitting where the resi hose attaches to the shock. Was just squirting oil everywhere. Ended up pulling the blown driver’s side and wheeling one day with only 1, camping and wheeling out peg leg style.

    8EA0DD29-97E5-4F9A-AE93-3F0EC42D5AFE.jpgC8D6EE40-DCD1-4F8D-A3C5-625E156874F0.jpg 76913E8A-9C8B-4164-BB32-CE08B368986A.jpg

    26C8B3BF-C0C0-4F1E-AEAD-2B4D2AEE3261.jpg

I didn’t take any pics but my tepui tent basically fell apart on the trip as well. When I went to open it the first night all the hinge bolts on one side had completely come out and were gone, the other hinge bolts were all loose, and the screws holding the poles into the plastic housing had all come out on one side and were gone. Luckily Craig brought some bolts I could use but I’m going to have to go get a bunch of hardware and try and fix everything. The tent couldn’t hold up to the abuse apparently. So with the 2 rear shocks and the tent I suffered some casualties but hey, that’s the price to pay to actually wheel.

Also took a nice chunk out of my new passenger fender on a rock so that’s cool.

    Git some!

Sounds like a good trip overall with a few casualties to remember it by. We need some SGU stickers made for everyone’s truck damage spots. “Ouch Spoken Here”

It happens! Can’t wheel hard and not risk breaking stuff... I learned from the master @osidepunker  And driving slow is no fun haha. Pretty sure I saw ur truck driving down grand through Walnut Creek past mt sac a couple weeks ago. You live in that area?

Awesome truck Zac ! Inspired by you guys, I'm doing a build myself with the intent of wheeling out west one day. Alex @osidepunker has been gracious enough to help me with some much needed guidance on my build. How do you like your Baja Design 50" ARC ?. What made you decide to go all amber ? I have the same bumper on mine and that is one of the lights I was considering.

I dig the BD light bar. Fits perfect. Not sure I can justify the price but that's neither here nor there. Switching all the lenses to amber was just personal preference. Every time I'm out on the trail I'm at least behind Alex who's kicking up dust and the ambers cut through it better, so I usually never ran my white lights. Plus the ambers look cooler on the white truck.

Your build is fantastic. Is that full glassed black DC you were pulling out a few posts back on this site? Looks like I need to take some notes on his high clearance rear bumper.

Time for a few updates. Having issues with my bed. The drivers side front right where the bed mount is has taken a little beating apparently. This is how it’s supposed to look on the passenger side: 3FB34AEC-C90C-429B-AB79-0B51203CF4F7.jpg
This is what the driver’s side looks like currently: 58B63631-9304-40E6-8F6F-C2B4D390D76F.jpgConsequently the bed is sitting almost 1” lower in the front corner. Also have a nice section of the bed that’s pushed up from the top side. Toyota wouldn’t touch it with all the modifications so I’m going to a body shop next week to have it taken care of.

I knew I needed to strengthen up everything so I had my frame boxed last week to help prevent future issues. Came out awesome. 288BF61B-F19A-4407-A3A4-FAAA171727DD.jpgBC861DD0-9A28-4DEE-9392-3DA2C9510FB9.jpg

Bad news on the bed, the frame looks awesome though. I had my frame boxed on my project truck based on Alex’s recommendation. Did Tim do yours ?

Also had my rear bumper made a while back. Pretty simple weld on bumper. Had them make up a little hitch/recovery point as well as tie the frame together really well. Despite what someone might say, I don’t want the frame flopping around. Can never firm everything up enough. 79F64A11-C3D4-442E-9935-9EF10E7CF388.jpg

Added a few more tie down points in the bed to help gear management: 85C4A764-8327-4E62-8754-7AC3FCE3AA53.jpg

And finally got around to relocating my aip courtesy of Osidepunker’s original idea. Really didn’t want to pay hundreds of dollars for one of the kits that you can buy. It’s not pretty but it works and it was cheap.

And finally almost finished packing up for Sequoia this weekend with the crew. Gonna be nice to get out hopefully don’t make my bed any worse haha.
