The driver of the semi truck was not injured and is receiving much needed mental and emotional help. I couldn't imagine what he's going through. From what I've read he somehow T-boned the bus. So sad

This is one of the worst MVA's in recent memory, across Canada. Terrible tragedy and our prayers are with everyone involved, from families to first responders. Give your families a hug. It can all change so fast.

When I saw this on the news this morning. I had an instant flashback to my EMR training when we did a triage scenario and I was designated incident command. The scenario? Semi truck vs school bus... :( First responder nightmare.

Wife and I were talking about this after seeing the overhead pics. I said I bet he survived. Sounds like I was right. I can't imagine being in his shoes, having made a mistake that took 15 lives. Sadly, I will be unsurprised if the poor man commits suicide.

Based on the positioning of the truck, bus and stop signs that the 360 degree aerial footage shows...the truck driver blew through the stop sign. Those are both section highways from what I gather so likely a 100km/h (60mph) speed limit.
