I have a 2015 dbl cab 5.7 4x4 with almost 30k miles. Does any one have a idea of what Toyota charges for the 30K mile maintenance?
Or can this work be done at a independent shop?

I’m in the same boat. I have an oil change due at 30k and I’m lazy so I’ll just take it to the dealership and let them tell me what it needs. I’ll let you know if you don’t have an answer by then.

I know what is involved in the 30k maintenance what I am interested in is what people paid for it.

Dealer's are going to be different. My local Toyota dealer changed both my differentials for $90 at 30k, engine oil cost $60 I believe. Only reason I take my truck to the dealer is the cost of service is about what I can get fluids for, plus rotating tires.

Make sure they use the CORRECT t-case oil. If they charge you $100 for a 4x4 service, they arent using the correct fluid.

I take mine in April for 30k (really 36 month service as I log below avg miles/yr). I'll post up what they charge me when I take it in.

I always take a look at Toyota maintenance guide before going, dealerships always try to up-sell.

    https://www.toyota.com/owners/resources/owners-manuals/tundra/2015

    pg 41

Unless you fall into the special driving conditions, looks like same service as 10k and 20k, with couple minor extras -- retorque propeller shaft (?$) & cabin air filter (25$)

So I am guessing $200 -- but knowing around my area here, probably $275, just because they can

I got a flier in the mail the other day to extend my free oil changes that came with the truck from 25k to 45k for $329, that's every 5k miles. It says the average 30k mile service is $141. Just had my 15k done, it would've been $94.

What t-case fluid was it quoted for?
I'm going with 75w90 and not the 75w spec the Borg Worner case now calls for. :stirthepot:

Don’t forget to have the 30k transmission check. All they do it cycle the solenoids, ensure proper level, and operational checks. My dealer didn’t even charge me for it. I don’t care if they did it or not, but it was documented it was in the event your transmission dumps right before warranty is up.

If you don’t get the 30/60/90k mile checks, you may be paying for a transmission out of your pocket. This happened to a couple guys on a different forum.

Right. You have to specify that you want that service performed based on your use.

The standard 30k service it won’t be performed.

Its tied into a 4x4 service. Dealership will probably try to sell you on it as part of the 30k.

Well then the Service Writer and Service Department missed out on some $ and hopefully no issues down the road occur that will cause them or Toyota to lose $ for not keeping up on services...

I did it myself. I only had the normal services done at the dealer since it was free. Besides, that truck is someone’s else’s now.

I’m just pointing out that the $100 30k service quotes are the bare minimum and don’t include the 4x4 service. And most dealers you will have to specify that you want it done.

Just had my service 30k completed. Just did what was in the book for Toyota, declined diff fluid changes, etc.

    269.11-40 coupon = 229.11 + random regulatory charges of 32.82 and tax 10.44 = 272.37

I got a free hand wash out of it though, in my area, a wash sets you back $30 (I still feel dirty though spending 272 on an oil change, tire rotation, and cabin air filter)

Unless I can stand there and watch them change my oil, I will do everything in my power to avoid anyone doing it for me. Let alone pay them LOL. Cabin air filter is really easy to change.

At my local toyota dealership my last basic oil change and tire rotate was $110 nothing else. I'm do for my 30k oil change and contemplating just buying the jack and stands and doing it my self if I'm paying that much.

Agreed. I’ll do everything myself. I have zero faith in dealerships. Most of them are totally full of shit. For instance, I know for fact they DO NOT retorque and grease the prop shaft.
But, I do! My work is 100 times more thorough than theirs. I document everything.

It doesn’t t say anything about that other than check for signs of leaks so they would have a pretty hard time denying a claim IMO.

Total rip off and you will do a better job. It’s easy and once you get the right tools it’s cheap. Plus while you are under there you will probably inspect and be more apt to retorque prop nuts and grease.

I have a pretty good dealership and went in for 15k service and the extra step is alignment check. I sat down and literally 18 minutes later all service was done, tires supposedly rotated, oil changed, alignment check, plus inspection. Seemed sketchy. That actually bummed me out a bit when I was rechecking everything in the parking lot before I left...no care into it.

Ya that's what I'm thinking. For that price i can get another jack and stands. I like things done right and that's not always the case at dealerships. Oh and I forgot to mention it took them 1 hr 45 min to complete basic oil change and tire rotate. they claimed it was bc the skid plate has to be removed (not too difficult)
