Hi all, I have a Ram truck 1500 2013 hemi.

I like the ram design better than all other trucks personally.

But who cares, I wish that I bought a tundra...

I've been to the dealer 10 times in last two years dealing with bs engine and drive train issue, knocks ticks etc, I envy you Tundra owners. Screw this car driver reviews...

Read up and learn that the problems with the tundras are really very minor. They last long and hold their value. So when are you reading it in for a Tundra?

They are now, but I guarantee the Japanese overlords won't allow shoddy workmanship! I imagine that their QA process is top notch and nothing short of perfection is allowed.

Of course their QA is one of the best in the world! Which is why Toyota is the world's leading car manufacturer. The production numbers for Tundras are far less than any others manufacturer because of the QA. Ford production numbers are ridiculously High because of the high demand, but because of that the QA isn't as important as numbers to them. That's why almost every ford sees the dealership within months after purchasing and it's not for an oil change.

here is a theory for you to think about and comment on:

I believe that as good and reliable as Toyotas are in general, that possibly the Tundra Pro's are higher in quality (not garnish's & jizz jazz) than the other models of Tundras.

here is the thought; the regular Tundra is more of a mass produced model. When they make a run of Pro's, it breaks the monotony and wakes 'em up. Just a little bit more attention and awareness, maybe.

I have owned Ford and Chevy and still challenge them both, hell with it let's put a Dodge in the mix.
Challenge them all To weld the hoods closed, and see who will have to open it first.....

My company pays for my vehicle but I buy it in my name. Have not held on to any of them for more than a couple of years and I have driven everything except a DODGE. I decided that I am about to have other drivers in my family here in a few years so I may as well start passing them down. I wanted something that I could look up and see 167,000 on the odometer and know it still has a ton of life left. I have the 15 Tundra and could not be happier. Toyota builds these things like "don't be coming back on my lot except for oil changes and tire rotations". The selling point for me was the guy looking at the lot while I was there. Showed me his 07 or 08 250,000 miles. Said I am getting another one but I am never getting rid of this one. Never had a problem.

Another thing about Toyota's........Go to a used car lot and see how many Tundra's/Taco's you find versus Chevy's, Ford's, and Dodge. Or, look at your local used car magazine and count the number of pages for each make.....you'll find a disproportionate amount of others versus Toyota's.

EXACTLY! My GF's dad always tries to knock my Tundra. He is a die hard Chevy truck guy and even jokes he will be buried in his truck:stirthepot:

I've had a Chevy, Ford and now the Toyota... definitely like the Toyota the best, time will tell who really has the better truck.

I just saw a Dodge on the side of the exit ramp broke down, just saying. :gossip:

What if it didn't fit?? A little touching up the garage with a chain saw would only take me a couple of minutes time. :jellydance:

I've always been a Ford person because my dad was a Ford guy, we rebuilt old Mustangs together. I've owned several F150s and I always thought my next truck would be the same. Then I bought a 4runner. Drove it for 6 years and 100k miles without a single problem. So when I wanted a truck that I needed to last because I knew I would put high miles on it, I bought a Tundra. Its not as flashy as the King Ranch, but I don't care. I really don't need a button that backs up my trailer for me. Maybe when I retire and I just need a truck to drive around town I'll buy an F250 for all the bells and whistles. Or maybe after this new Tundra I will never go back to Ford. So far I love this truck. And Car and Driver is for teenage boys who dream about cars they can't have. Who gives a crap.

That's exactly why I bought my 2007 in the first place. I usually never buy the first model year of a redesign (See 3rd gen Tacoma problems), but the "new" Tundra was so revolutionary at the time and so far ahead all the other manufacturers in terms of power, brakes, towing, reliability, etc. it was a no brainer to me. I think the fact that Toyota finally produced a "real" full size truck, much attention to detail was paid to ensure it didn't fall on its face. To put it simply, it was/is overbuilt to the hilt. Here I am almost 9 years later and I literally have only replaced the battery on it (and that was 7 years ago). I have been so happy with my Tundra I simply cannot part with it despite the fact I have had numerous people BEG me to sell it to them. I do only have 63K miles on it and I am METICULOUS in caring for it. I may consider selling it if/when the next gen Tundra comes out and is (I'm sure it will be) even better than the current offering. BTW, does anyone have any idea when they might consider dropping a new engine/trans in the Tundra or is it just so good they really don't ever have to?

Ditto..... I replaced my battery last year even though it was still cranking normally. Was dated 2/2007. Toyota blew away the big three in 2007. Only minor issues. There were some crank shaft problems on 27 or 29 trucks due to a metallurgy issue with the normally reliable crank shaft supplier. I think is was 0.01% of the 2007 Tundra production run. Of course a few big three fan boys still bring that up issue up. Pretty sure their trucks , if still running, are worth peanuts. (I apologize to all peanuts, I meant Shit.)

Toyota is voted #1 in reliability according to Consumer Reports and has a great re-sell value. CR voted it 'not recommended'. I suppose for being too basic; i.e. lack of HID headlights, push button start, LED interior lights, BAD gas mileage, etc.
Bottom line, it's a Toyota and if you want reliability and a good re-sale, look no further. If you want tons of extras (more stuff to break $$$), buy a Ford, Dodge or Chevy.
