For various reasons, your plate has been photographed many times by others.
This picture was taken when I crossed a bridge that charged a toll, it arrived in the mail with a bill.

    I don’t mind either way.

Better make damn sure nobody’s home, and if not, it’s insured.

When you post without blurring it is ALWAYS out there to be searched. For whatever reason. I'd rather be 1 step further away from theft in any way. It's like a house with it's shades open and the 75" TV on showing everyone "look what I got". Then he wonders why he got broken into. Or the idiot who blasts his car stereo while pulling into his own driveway... If you advertise, and leave your address, you invite the possibility of that consequence. I'd rather not. It doesn't stop someone from really finding you, but it may slow them down enough, to pass on to an easier target.

I’m glad I asked this question, I learn something new everyday. I did not know you could get someone’s info in the state of Louisiana. Either way, doesn’t matter to me cause it’s all in public view anyways. I’ve seen rogue Cops do it for women in there cars and those Cops are no longer Cops.. I once ran a plate and dispatch advised me the same plate was run in another state 3 weeks prior..For those that have the capability to get the info weather you are a civilian or law enforcement, please do it properly if you value your job. It is traceable down to the officers id # or DMV employee...

Everyone's information is out there all that has to be done is look in the right places and there it is down to what size drawers (if at all ) you wear. The alphabet soup agencies of the government know more about us( the general population) than what we realize and that's way more than they need to know.

I think at the end of the day you need to do what you think is right. I’m on the fence but in the end I don’t think I care.
They say the average American gets captured by 70 cameras a day. There is no way around it. Shit, apparently my Roomba vacuum is supposed be a security breach.

It doesn’t bother me I don’t blurr my plates in pictures when I know there are hackers or “government employees”......hmmmmmm, that can access any information they want from anywhere with a laptop.

    Still rocking the stock height.
I have blocked mine in the past. I still do sometimes, but now its because my front plate is in the windshield so the way the picture is taken it does not show. But I have stopped doing it on purpose. As many have said, anyone could take a picture while you are driving then run your plate. I used to run plates at work for vehicles that were parked illegally. The only real good way to keep people from being able to find you if they run your plate is to lease your vehicles, because then the plate comes back to the leasing company.

I obscure my plate. I know people can just as easily get it when you’re driving down the road. But the difference for me is that on the forum you are explaining all the particulars about your truck including what you keep inside what type of shocks etc. Driving down the road not everybody knows exactly what you’ve got under the hood or all your special details. On the forum they can precisely pick what they would want to steal off your truck.
So I try to obscure my plate, as it’s not that difficult to do anyways. Why the hell do you want to see my license plate? What’s the big deal if I don’t want you to? It’s just a small precautionary that I like to take. If you want to see it that bad, you’re a weirdo.

About 5 years ago I was living in a gated apartment community. I had a 2003 Honda 954RR with 35k miles on it. I felt it was time to overhaul my beast, so I stripped it down and rebuilt it. Put all new fancy parts on it and everything. I took it out for a shake down ride and loved the new feel. Two days later I went to take the garbage out and admire my rebuilt ride. . . . but instead all I found was the ignition sitting in my parking space. reported it stolen and got a call from the officer assigned to my case a few days later. His response was "yeah its gone and we're not going to find it. Let the insurance know that they need to pay it out"

    Yeah . . . . I'm still pissed about it

The problem is when the machines send the terminator back, it would be easier to find me with my plate everywhere. The other problem is I never think about obscuring untill someone asks the question.

I had a guy roll back in to me at a stoplight. No obvious damage in the dark. When it got light out I noticed a little dent in the bumper. Went to the local police station in town where it happened and got his name and address and a warning. The warning was if the guy does not want to talk then back off. Went to the dudes house and he remembered me. Insisted on turning over to his insurance. I took truck to the adjustor and they cut me a check. Anyone can get your plate number so I do not worry about blocking out on this forum. I guess the concern is the crooks are going to know how the truck is equipped if they see it her. Well the crooks can easily find one that has more mods than mine by just driving around.
