    2017 Tundra CM SR5 4x4
    Hello everyone!
I just purchased a new left over 2017 Tundra SR5 Crew Max 4x4 last week and although it was a long road to get to a vehicle that I love I am glad it happened. Being 30 years old, I have already owned over 20 different vehicles! I recently decided that I need a truck for many reasons, one being I am finishing my basement and the others my lifestyle. I am a fly fisherman and a hunter while being a general outdoorsman. When I made the decision to get a truck I was driving a 2015 outback that I drove the crap out of! I loved it, but I needed more ability and bed storage. So when it came time to pick out a truck, coming from a Ford family I immediately went after an F150. So I worked a decent deal with my trade in on a left over 2017 XLT supercrew with the 3.5 eco boost. I was happy with the choice, or so I thought... within the first 400 miles I had it in the shop to have the driver side leg of the 4x4 vacuum system replaced. The hub was constantly trying to engage making an awful noise. 6500 miles later (last Monday) I lost all power and my dash was going off like an automated Xmas tree. Back in the shop we went. Both, I repeat BOTH turbos failed. I couldn’t live with that. Additionally I could NEVER get comfortable in the seats of that truck. So I knew that I was going to have to look at Nissan or Toyota. The tundra has always appealed to me, but I couldn’t ever find deals like the big 3 would offer. I checked out a few titans and I was not impressed to say the least. Once I picked up my ford from the dealer I knew I was headed to a Toyota dealer. I found 1 2017 left in the St. Louis area and I went after it. I fell in love with it immediately. It’s an SR5 with the premium package but not a TRD. From what I understand all the TRD is different shocks and stickers so I am fine with not having that. Any how, I only lost $500 on the F150 and got the Tundra for $38,600 out the door when the MSRP was $41,800 so I am happy. When I made the decision to buy a truck I also decided that I would keep this vehicle for the long haul meaning 10 plus years with hundreds of thousands of miles. Thought the F150 would do it. Boy was I wrong. I would really love to hand this tundra down to my 8 month old son, which is a stretch because I drive a lot but we will see! Anyhow I am finally happy and ready to enjoy many many miles of Tundra time.

I grew up with a dad that owned a siding business and would buy and sell cars on the side for fun. I guess I was accustomed to swapping vehicles! The Tundra is my stopping point.

Welcome from WI. I almost bought a 2017 F150 with the 10 speed and 3.5 TT after 2 Tundras. They looked nice and seemed to offer some sweet tech and other enhancements. I just had a sick feeling it would be a mistake. Your story is like so many others about Ford. So glad I stayed loyal to Toyota. They aren't perfect but certainly are reliable workhorses. Glad you feel good about the purchase and I guarantee it will keep you happy for years to come! Good color choice too!

    Welcome from Alberta!

I had a 2013 F150. Bought it used in 2014 with 33,000KMS on it. Sold it in 2016 with 74,000KMS. In that 2 years and 40,000KMS, I had $6000 in warranty work done, plus another $1200 - $2000 in work done out of my pocket just to keep it on the road. Never knew if it would get me to work in the morning. That truck and the way I was treated by 3 separate Ford dealerships and Ford corporate ensured there will never be a Ford in our family again.

Now I drive a 2005 Tundra with 160,000KMS...and haven't had a single problem. I'm treated like gold by Toyota dealerships too. It's night and day difference.
