OK, so Im about to purchase the Spyder headlight in black for my 2016 CM. Some things I see say they are plug n play and other things are saying wiring is required. Has anyone done this themselves? 4 wheel parts wants 200 for install. Also, I have read a lot and people are saying the included bulbs are crap. Has anyone installed LEDs or HIDs in place of the bulbs that come with the Spyders. Please help. THANKS!

Can't help you with the specifics but what i can say is don't pay $200 to swap headlights. Its not hard at all. Im sure if you look at youtube you will find a video.

The middle of this video shows the headlight being removed.

The non plug and play for your lights will be for the accessory led items like halos, etc. Just splice to existing wires.

I have the spyder's, the hardest part of the install is getting the damn grille off. PITA! Swapping the light itself is easy as can be, it's just getting the lower grille clips to release without breaking them that was difficult on my truck. Lights are PNP, no wiring necessary.

So the DRL light bar will function without splicing into any of the factory wiring? how is the light output from the bulbs sent with the spyder lights? are they yellow halogen or more of a xenon white?

I want more of a white light look instead of the yellow halogen look that the stock headlights have. any idea how to achieve this with the spyders?

As previously mentioned, don't do HID, your beam pattern will be all over. You can replace the bulbs with some high quality bulbs with a light blue tint to them maybe PIAA or ssomething similar.

If you need to go HID I would go with theretrofitsource.com

If you are OK with coughing up the extra cash, @eledobleu has retrofitted a pair of Spyder headlights, though from the sounds of it, it was not an easy task. That would be the only proper way to get HID bulbs in those headlights. I would imagine it would be more affordable to have your stock headlights retrofitted though. He can add LED DRL's and really customize the headlight.

I haven't been up on bulb brands, I know what are good in the HID world, and in previous vehicles I used PIAA with good luck. Other brands tended to burn out, and changing a bulb on our truck is a PITA, so I would keep something reliable in there.

I just installed mine last night, my side markers don't blink, did I manage to screw up an easy install or do they just not blink at all? I was kind of surprised by that

you mean your parking/turn signals? Something wasnt installed right is what that means. When you hit the turn signal is there a rapid arrow flashing?

I'm thinking he's referring to the reflectors that don't illuminate on the outside of each headlight housing?

I have HID in my spyder headlights light pattern is awesome it doesn't blind anybody ahead of me not even when I pull up right behind a lil jetta I haven't had any complaints yet  I would go with HIDs they look so much better than a blue bulb
