My Tundra Bro's have been kind. But I recently "led" a group of Tundras on a SoCal meet-and-play... driving our new/used 2001 4 Runner. I wanted to do a shake-down, try out the 4 x 4 where I didn't actually "need" it. I admit though, it did feel a bit of a cop-out, radio'ing back to warn Tundra drivers about pinstriping "they" (not I) might risk through certain stretches. :anonymous:

No way else to say it: I love my Tundra... and I wish I'd gotten 4x4.

Is it possible for mods to merge this with the SoCal B.S. thread? I'd ask, but I don't want anyone to know how we jacked this thread....

Yeah, I had my GoPro on. It fell off before we hit dirt so, trying to keep forward momentum, I just moved on.

Maybe we could change the narrative: terrain was so tough that...

You are correct I have the Demello rock crushers, I went and picked up to save shipping. Install was easy I had some help from neighbors. But what was a great help was a little cart that I could put sliders on and pump up to hold in position this allowed me to make adjustments without holding it over my head. If you get them let me know and you can borrow me and the cart. The drilling part was nerve racking. If you do it don’t buy the rotobroach bits. I went through 2 of those and 2 dewalt metal bits to drill 2 holes. I then bought a set of Milwaukee hard metal bits and started with a small bit and worked up to large. I did last 4 holes this way. Worked great and it was easy. Use an electric drill not battery. Make sure you have a high enough jack stand and jack so the drill will fit under. My stock jack barely gets my wheels off the ground. I will have to invest in a longer piece for my safe jack because that was a little shorter.

You dudes are crazy. Im up for it but I need to wait a bit to have funds to get the parts. If this doesn't happen Im up for a beer somewhere. Maybe we can get up with Keith "Dirty Deeds" in Escondido. He may or may not have access to some land to shoot and shit. Have a good one.IMG_2728.jpg

Thanks for the info on the sliders. I was planning to use them as steps for a while, maybe drill after I build more. I really like the SDHQ ones as well. contenders.

I wish noutah crew was always willing to help! I want an experience pro watching me, drinking my beer while I change rear coils on the 4runner. I am pretty confident I understand the process and will be fine, but you can't learn everything from videos and pictures.
