It's great in a parking garage. esp in the winter up in Boston...

    1. You can pull as far in as possible w/o clobbering something that's too low to see or too central for your sonar to pick up.
    2. once you're in the spot you can flip it to the reverse cam to make sure you're completely into the spot or as far as you want to be.
    3. both of those can be done in seconds in sub zero weather WITHOUT getting out of the truck
    4. the obvious for the back cam is checkin in on and towing shenanigans you're doing w/o stopping or getting out of the truck. and more thorough checking say at a light, still w/o getting out.

I've actually used it pulling into a car wash.... and its pretty wacky if you leave either of them on whilst going thru it. hahaha

Does the FRAC Harness work with the units where the video display is in the rear view mirror?

No. The FRAC harness is designed to work with Head Unit displays in 2014 and newer Tundras.

I ment to upload these pictures back in Oct of 2017... but forgot... Lol I also ment to take more pictures of the install process but didnt...

I will say install was VERY easy... I think the hardest part was removing the panels to access the bolts that remove the Infotainment center... and or pushing the cable through the firewall... That was kinda a pain also haha

P.S Dont forget to tighten the nut that secures the camera... I left a little play in mine for some unknown reason and every now and then i have to go straiten the camera... I'll eventually take the time to fix that but for now... meh... it's straight

Nope, I could not get it to switch to front view.
I bought this one and it's been working fine.

The only thing I wished it has is to be able to adjust the angle to tilt it downward a little more. I would like to catch a small part of the front bumper to give me a point of reference of how far the object is from the front.

Here is the DIY video I made during the install.

I'm thinking about a front cam and this is my concern with the emblem version too. I may try to mount this in in the grille instead:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072KQG664/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1GX72APRMRCYD

I think I should be able to device a mounting bracket to get just about any angle with it. Has anybody tried it?

Hey Lou, so I know this has been asked early on, but has anyone guinea pigged trying the FRAC harness with an aftermarket head unit that would normally let you keep your OEM camera? Seems like it would work, no?

With the logo camera, basically the very bottom of the screen is about 1’ away from the bumper.

I’m not aware of anyone doing this. Based on what I’ve seen in a few after-market Head Units. They typically supply an adapter harness that converts the rear camera feed in the factory harness to an RCA plug for input to an HU RCA socket. Their adapter harness may also re-route power, steering wheel controls, and/or other signals to the appropriate HU pins.

The FRAC harness is designed for the factory harnesses and Entune HU connectors. So unless an aftermarket HU is pin for pin compatible (i.e. no adapter harness required) I can’t say for certain that it would work.

That’s good to hear. So I’m guessing his adapter harness ties into the FRAC connectors?

What model of Alpine HU does he have?

See that’s kinda what I was thinking would happen If you connect the adapter harness “after” the frac, on the radio side, the frac should still make the front cam available, because the radio harness is rerouting “the truck” as it normally would. Just thinking out loud. But I may try it. I can’t deal with these Bluetooth crashes and the lack of Apple car play anymore. I just absolutely HATE the non factory head unit look. And that Tesla lookin Android head unit looks nice but the OS is a shambles.

After a way-too-long delay, I have resolved my parts supplier problems and the FRAC harness production line is once again up and running! I filled a bunch of FRAC backorders this week and I have plenty of quality parts on hand to fill the rest and take new orders.

To those who were waiting, thanks for your patience. I should be caught up after this weekend. And all backorders will be shipped no later than next week.

Just installed the Frac with a DVR.
    Frac Switch.jpg
    Camera 1.jpg
I used the Noauka cam. It looks great in low light, not as good in bright light. The Green and White wires were switched on my camera so I ended up clipping both for a non-reversed view and no distance scale.

    DVR.jpg
The DVR came with an AC adapter that I cut off and attached a Cigarette lighter adapter. The DVR resides in the center console. My only complaint is there is no way to turn off the time stamp in the recordings, but does keep the time even without power. The time stamp is not visible on the screen in the truck. The connectors are not of high quality and requires some fudging around to get a good signal. The video quality is just somewhat acceptable.
    DVR cap.jpg
TundraTex, thank you. You have great product!

I love my FRAC but I ran into a weird issue for the past week. It’s no longer displaying the rear camera.

I can flip the switch to the front and the front will display just fine, but when I flip it to the rear it still displays the front. When I put the car into reverse, it displays the front camera.

Any ideas? Odd because it’s been working just fine.

My guess would be a connection came loose behind head unit. Happened to me w a different component, I pulled it all back out, checked connections and tested it w head unit still out and viola it worked again.
It’s a pain in the ass but turned out to be a simple fix. Might be worth trying.

Sorry you're having problems with your FRAC harness. I don't have any records of your purchase, so I'm assuming you bought it second hand? Do you know if it a first Gen or a second gen? Let me know and I'll give you some troubleshooting tips.

    Thanks,

    Lou
