Bye bye chrome!

where do you go suggest I go to get the chrome bumpers vinyl wrapped? (I think that’s the way to go right?) or is there a better way? TRD Pro grill, and SSO slim line bumper on the way too figure I’ll do it all at once. Thanks!

 

Have you looked into powder coating them?

 

What’s the best option for longevity/cost effectiveness? Sorry yes I’m a noob but learning quick I promise.

 

Mine are PC. Another option to look at and might be close to the same price.

Depends what you do with your truck or under what driving conditions it will spend most of it's time. @Sean266 has his front caps wrapped and have help up good. I've had n issues with my PC caps.

 

Yeah, locally. Called several powder coat places to get quotes and how long it would take. I wanna say about $150 if I remember. But only because me and @Almaboy did ours at the same time and got a discount. Without the discount I think it would have been just over $200.

Here was the original quote:

 

I paid $200 for vinyl wrap on all four bumper ends. I was quoted $250-300 for PC. The difference is I would have had to take the caps off and bring them in for PC. Had it just been the price difference I would have gone with PC, but I didn't want to deal with the hassle of taking them off. Also, I don't do any off-roading or anything, so they should be fine vinyl.

I guess I have a really cheap powder coat guy. He sandblasted my chrome bull bar and powder coated it matte black for $75. I didn't ask for a price on the end caps ...yet!
I switched out my chrome door handles and mirror caps for black last night

 

Where did you have them done? I may do myself, but interested in a back up plan!

 

I got them done at a small local shop here in WV. It was a bitter cold day, and they had toruble keeping the bumpers warm enough to work it. Rather than just saying it is too cold and trying another day, they went ahead and did it. Now, they have to redo 3 of the 4 caps as the vinyl didn't stay stuck. So I would suggest making sure it is a warm day if you do vinyl.

Sorry, never even noticed. Just saw the thread from the main page and responded.

 

I paid a body shop $500, they did the following:
media blasted:
front bumper caps
rear bumper caps
mirror covers
door handles
hood buldge
pro grill surround

color matched it all

they took all that off panted it and then put it back on.

i was pretty happy with that price honestly when i started looking at the cost of the mess. i mean the door handles and the mirror caps are almost 50% of what i paid for everything done. that is if you buy them color
matched, crazy.

 

I finally just went for the Plastidip option. We will see how it holds up. If it doesn’t, I’ll just peel it off and consider other options.

 

It should hold up pretty well to normal use. Looks good. Love the black bumpers on quicksand
