Coachbuilder shims. I think each piece adds 1/2" of height.

The problem, as I understand, is with all the pieces that goes with the tank. Apparently, they cost a bundle together.

I wonder if there was a way you could make this work, if you had a small tank, it would get you to 43 gallons.
I guess you would have to drill a hole in the bed, to tie into the line, and then fill your truck up from this tank not the other.
It would cost less and not hang below the frame. has my wheels spinning.

After reading up on everything I could, I emailed transferflow and asked them for the installation manual. Had it in a couple hours. (Along with $100 bucks off)Tank will arrive in the next couple weeks. Believe I am about done with mods (did the NSV bulge light a few weeks ago) with the exception of a suspension kit. Haven’t a clue on that..this forum has been a great source of information, will probably start here. Thanks to everybody for the quality posts.

Neither one of those can legally be setup to transfer gasoline automatically, you would have to pull over to the side of the road, get out the siphon pump and fill up manually, at that point you might as well just stop at a gas station.
Diesel tanks are different, since you can practically put out fires with diesel there isn't as much of a concern if during an accident an auxiliary diesel tank dumps its contents all over the place due to it's gravity feed system, gasoline is a bit more concerning. Gasoline tanks have additional requirements, including the requirement for a pump, that way if an accident occurs the tank will not drain if the pump does not have power.

Sorry, to pop this back up, but the truck I bought has the Transfer Flow on it. I didn't fill it up all the way the first time, but i put about 26 gallons in it with 1/4 tank left on the gauge. While driving, I noticed that the computer always said the same miles remaining for like 3-5 miles and would drop 1 remaining per 3-5 miles. Also, the fuel needle read full and didn't move for a VERY long time. Is there a way to calibrate the computer and gauge for the extra capacity or is it something that I will need to get used to? As it sits right now, the trip computer is useless for range calculation.

I suggest that you do several completely full to nearly empty cycles and then calculate mileage by hand. Once you know how many miles per gallon you actually get, you can see, and remember, what your gauge reads at the different levels. For example let’s suppose you are getting 15 mpg. Let’s leave 8 gallons in the tank for “reserve”. For every 150 miles you know you have used 10 gallons and 1/4 tank.
    300miles = 20gal = 1/2 tank.
    450miles = 30gal = 3/4 tank.

Thank you sir. So it sounds like I need to just get used to it. I'll do some hand calculations then.

I am very interested in a larger gas tank for my 2014 Tundra Platinum. I have read posts here in which several 2014-2017 Tundra Crewmax owners seem to have installed, or had installed the Transferflow 46 gal tank. Yet, when I go to Transferflow.com and enter "2014 Tundra Crewmax 5.5 bed" as my truck, they only show in-bed tanks available for my Tundra. I am going to call them soon (when theyand see what they can tell me, but what's up with that???

I m interested in one too but I read somewhere on this forums that tranferflow stopped making 46 gallon tanks for Tundra.
Guess, we need to try to do a group buy with LRA tanks.

The Transfer Flow has been discontinued. LRA or OEM 38 gallon are your new options. the LRA is also 46 gallons, and some see it as superior to the Transfer Flow due to the corner not protruding below the frame rails. You can get LRA tanks from Cruiser Brothers in the USofA.

Had a transfer flow on my 2010. I guess the oem 38 gallon made it unprofitable for them. Really liked the 46 gallons.

Always thought it was weird they are based in Chico, CA, but most of their products cannot be legally sold in CA.

I have a 2015 CM SR5 and this was the first mod I made. I drive across country a lot and I hate stopping every couple of hours for gas. The tank is very straight forward. I bought mine at the Toyota dealership and had them install. Took about 3 hours. It comes with everything. It is a simple plug and play. The only thing that will change is since the new tank uses the stock float your distance to empty is incorrect. You have to watch your fuel gauge. My first road trip I stopped for gas under a quarter of a tank but before the gas light came on and realized I was 720 miles in. Even towing a 26ft travel trailer I still go 325-350. Totally worth it. Have not noticed any performance issues due to the larger tank.

I looked at the 38 gal tank upgrade that comes on the new tundras and its a big pain in the ass. Lots more parts to buy and much more expensive. You will love the tank from Transfer Flow!

You bought a Transfer Flow Tank from your Toyota dealership and they installed it? Good deal.

Yes sir. Stephen Wade Toyota in St. George Utah. I came in asking about the 38 gal upgrade and they had the 46 gal Transfer flow sitting in the service department. Talked to them about it and came in the next day and got it installed. Cost about $1400 or so.

Yes, the fact is that the Transferflow 46 is no longer available. I ordered the LRA 46 from Cruiser Brothers and got a $200 Octoberfest discount! I should have it later this week or next. Can't wait!

$1650 with shipping to Texas. But hey, it's cheaper than a new truck, and mine only has 31k miles.

OK! All done. I received the LRA 46 gallon tank a few weeks ago and completed the install today. Now, having said that, there are things you must be aware of before you decide to install this tank yourself. It was not a four hour or even a one day project for me. I grew up working in my parents auto repair shop, but at 65 I'm much more of a computer nerd than mechanic. But I do have a fair selection of tools and a good well-lit barn with a concrete floor. I did this with my Tundra on four jack stands. The wheels were barely off the ground in front and about an inch off the ground in the rear. This is just enough clearance to get the old tank out and slide the new one under the step bar. I used a couple of floor jacks to lower the old tank and raise the new one into place. My old tank had an anti-siphon device in the neck and therefore I had to drop it "wet". It still had about 4 gallons in it. The extra care this demanded took more thought and time. I followed the directions as closely as possible all the way but I found them not to be 100% accurate for every case. For instance, LRA insists that the front mount on the tank goes "on top" of the new bracket you install. This was not the case for me. With both new straps in place and tight, my front front mount is below the bracket. Woopti-doo. And the little hose that goes to the filler neck was about four inches too short. Also, the large hose that attaches the FLVV to the carbon canister MUST be routed straight back over the rear crossmember. The FLVV is very close to the crossmember so if it goes anywhere but straight back it will be kinked. This is the vent for the tank and if it is plugged or blocked you will not be able to put fuel in the tank!!! (Don't ask)
All in all, I really have to thank Cruiser Brothers and LRA for a great product! This is a good thing, especially for older Tundras like mine, before the 38 gallon tank.

I wouldn't think so, the LRA is made from aluminized steel, it doesn't care what fuel you put in it, if that's what you're asking. Mine is a CM also.

Ok, first trip with the LRA 46 gas tank: Yes, I drove 100 miles before the gage ever came off the Full peg! All other readings are when the needle was directly over the given mark.
Distance to come off the Full peg: 100 miles
Distance to the Full mark: 140 miles
Distance to the 3/4 mark: 225 miles
Distance to the 1/2 mark: 350 miles
Distance to the 1/4 mark: 575 miles!
I filled up after 611 miles, it held only 36.151 gallons, so I had a LOT of gas/range left, but I found some really cheap 87 octane gas and couldn't resist. Oh, do the math, that's 16.9 mpg. This trip was 95% highway driving at 75-80 mph. And I drove another 160+ miles home after the second fill up and the results were the same so far. I've added a picture below to show the gage at just below the 1/4 mark and milage at 611 just prior to the 2nd fill up. From a user perspective, nothing is different except more fuel capacity and range. The automatic fill shutoff has worked perfectly so far. Hope this clears up some mystery and answers some questions. If you have the old 26 gallon tank, I highly recommend this upgrade whether you do it yourself or have it done by a good mechanic.

I was just curious and wanted to ask you if you:
    1) were you able to use same fuel pump and fuel gauge sensor you had on the 26 gallon tank?
    2) any upgrade needed to fuel lines or the evaporator canister?
    3) over time did the miles to empty reading relearned and gave a more accurate reading different from the 26 gallon tank?
I've a 17 FFV that I was told has already a bigger fuel pump then a non FFV.
Some dealerships also mention computer reprogrammimg needed. Can you clarify some of my concerns?
    Thanks.

Can't speak for the LRA, but I do have the Transferflow.

    Same pump and sensor.
    No upgrades.
DTE does NOT relearn. On a fresh fill up, my DTE is still 300ish miles. In actuality, I have 500+.
