can you guys post pics of what your exhaust piping looks like? Mine has 3k miles and looks pretty rusty. About to treat it with ACF-50 and wanted to see what others looked like.

Where do you live? The exhaust is stainless. Obviously not rust proof but should last a looong time. The welds may have surface rust but nothing to worry about. If it really bothers you, take it off and prep for some high temp paint. I took my stock exhaust off at around 16,000 miles. Almost 0 rust just some discoloration.

Damn. That is bad. Mostly surface rust at this early on. They must use some nasty shit on the your roads where you live.

I wouldn’t worry about the hitch. It’s a lot of thick metal. You want to look like you use it right? LOL I want to say whatever chemical they’re putting down on your roads is nasty. Our exhaust pipes are stainless. So I actually think whatever crap is getting flung up onto your exhaust pipe is what is rusting, not the pipe itself.

man even your leaf pack starting to rust. I think it has to do with what they put on your roads.

Anything to think I can clean it with and then protect it with, or prolly not? I'm getting the whole thing ceramic wrapped. I wonder if that can do that also.

To clean I would try a vinegar soaked rag first. Let it sit. Probably really time consuming. They make rust converter for stainless. Not sure if safe for exhaust. Some of it turns black. I would think of removing and spraying with a high temp paint.
    Not sure about ceramic coating.

These exhausts are made in Canada. They might know a bit about snowy conditions.

I think it’s not rusting, it’s the contaminants/chemicals from the road, built up on the surface. This crap must have Iron in it.

Yes it is rusting and it will continue to do so but it should not rust through for over ten years. I put a stainless system on in 2005 and though it is covered in rust there are no holes. Salted roads are the primary cause and there really is nothing to do due to the heat on your exhaust burning anything off

I have used a high-temp exhaust system spray paint from Auto-Zone with some ceramic in it, and it helps keep rust in check. Any time I get under the truck I touch up any new discoloration. In addition, I have been maintaining all the undercarriage components, and steering parts with Eastbrook rust encapsulator and or chassis black. Once the rust is under control, just an annual inspection and maintenance keeps the underside looking clean like the outside. I do an undercarriage spray to rinse off any road salt or chemicals periodically.

Try to use undercarriage wash plenty of times when it snows and they throw salt.

Mine did the same thing on my 16, but not on my 11. Cheaper materials obviously. Such a shame.

As I am sure that our environments is contributing to the rust on our exhaust but I do believe that stainless steel used on the our "top of the line" TRD exhaust was and is sub-par. My previous 2009 Tundra that was 8 yrs old with over 100k miles didnt have as much rust as my less than 1 year old 2017 Tundra with 13k miles has now. Per my conversations with the dealer, it seems that for some reason there is an issue with the TRD exhaust. I have spent countless hours on the phone with Toyota and it has fallen on deaf ears. Makes me think twice next time about Toyota.... good luck, all.

You must have a lot of time on your hands to complain about an exhaust hours and hours. I suggest you pick up a German luxury car and see how long you'll be on the phone compared to your Toyota. Everyone bitches and complains, but you really have to see the bigger picture.

And to boot, you own a 1794 and not a 1894 as per your info. lol
