Well, every time I buy a new car, I LOVE to do a build thread... if nothing else to see how much money I dropped on the vehicle I purchased. Here are a few threads that I've done in the past:

    2017 Toyota Tacoma:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/obz-build-thread-pic-heavy-now-with-a-harley-build.480116/

    2013 Tesla Model S:

    https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/my-tesla-model-s-build-thread.99853/

    2004 Harley Sportster 883:

    https://www.hdforums.com/forum/sportster-models/1176691-my-super-sporty-transformation.html

One of my favorite things is to see a transformation, and this truck is no different. However, this will not be my truck, but my wife's. She has sold our 2016 Yukon XL:

    IMG_0116.jpg

It's funny, we test drove Escalades, Volvo's, Audi's, Benz's, and she LOVES the Tundra best of all! We'll see if she still does once I finish with it. We pick up her truck today so I'll add pics once I've taken them.

    Day 1:

Thanks man, it was... just H-A-T-E-D the black! Beautiful when clean but I've got a little OCD in me and I couldn't handle it. Got to the point that I couldn't stand the sight of that car! Not to mention the HORRIFIC depreciation. $65K new, sold for $45K. Yuck... Tundra will be a MUCH better "investment."

I get it. I'd rather spend time driving my grey Tundra than trying to maintain that black paint. White is the way to go in that regard. I knew Escalades had horrible depreciation but wasn't aware that Yukons took such a hit. Your Tundra won't depreciate much at all compared to other trucks. You don't get much discount up front buying new but the Tundra holds its value quite nicely.

And had these made up from a guy over on Tacomaworld. He did my bed stickers on the Tacoma, and figured I'd have him hook me up for the Tundra. Simple which is what I'm about.

First noticeable mod done - Recon Tails. I love changes that take all of 5 minutes to do. Gotta say, they're good quality too. Picked them up for $350 from eBay... can't complain too much about the price either.

I thought I had some LED backups but they were red. Looks like that'll be on the buy list...

One other thing that I did last night that I didn't post. I replaced the license plate lights with LED's. The angle is weird, but easy to do.

HA! I wish. I actually picked up that Tesla for a steal from a buddy of mind who really does have a money tree - he's a big-time airport contractor. One of his 12 cars (9 of them classic) was my Tesla that hadn't been driven in a year. I got it from him, then went to modding. Frankly I see it as an investment, I figure when I go to flog it, I'll be able to make a few thousand because of what I bought it for. Definitely a fun project and car.

Same here, I'm currently searching for a Tundra to replace my 2017 black Tacoma. I'm going for the Magnetic Gray as well, I've had the same type of gray in several cars, thought I wanted to try something new with the Tacoma. It drives me nuts.

I love grey and love MGM on a Tundra. My favorite color on that truck for some reason. My Taco was Silver Sky and I loved it on that truck, but for some reason the MGM on the Tundra just fits it.

Got Line-X done yesterday. Love the look and seems to be very "hearty." Not worried about scratching at all. Took them about 4 hours to do, and cost just over $600 with tax for the premium liner. I read some of the "horror" stories of using Line-X with the overspray on the spare, bolts cross-threaded in the bed, etc. and I'm happy to report, nothing like that happened on my truck. VERY clean application.

Got the steps put on. Super easy install. 6 bolts on each side and good to go. I did N-Fab steps because of all the headache everyone has been having with the AMP steps and wiring. Once they figure it out for the 18+'s I'll throw those on there and dump these. I had N-Fab RKR Sliders on my Taco and liked the quality. These seem about the same.

Got the bed sticker update. I love CBoy over at Tacomaworld. That guy always does amazing work! Got it designed up and over to me in just a couple days. I did screw up the drivers side though. Looks kinda ugly over there. It'll have to do until I get the replacement. The backing paper was all wonky and the vinyl stuck down as I was trying to remove it. Anyway, pics below...

One more thing done, my tonneau cover. WAY easier than my Tacoma and it probably helped that I didn't have a plastic bed liner in the Tundra. All in about an hour or so. Doesn't quite line up like I'd like it to, but I'll re-adjust once it warms up a little bit and the rubber loosens on the joints. Oh, it's a Bakflip MX4. Exact same one I had on my Taco. LOVE it!

Had to pull of the wheels from the Tundra for the TPMS sensors. They got put into the new wheels and tires. Interestingly, in 2018 the TPMS sensors changed. According to the tire shop, 2014-2017 used the same sensors and 2018 uses a different sensor type. Not sure what the deal is there, but worth mentioning at least. Anyway pics below:

    IMG_0230.jpg IMG_0231.jpg IMG_0232.jpg IMG_0233.jpg IMG_0234.jpg

These are Toyo Open Country RT's in the 35X12.50X22 variety. I'm using Fuel Assault 22" wheels with them. Have -18 offset. Should be good and aggressive. I hate that I'm using these wheels because I see them on a lot of lifted trucks, but honestly I think it works SUPER well with the lines of the Tundra. Very angular - like the Tundra is. Lift coming soon!

Well, lift didn't get finished today. Ended up needing to add shackles to the rear end to make sure it sits completely level. I worry a little that it may be a little too high in the rear once everything settles, but they assured me that it should sit pretty dang flush. The last thing I want is for the front end to be jacked up in the sky compared to the rear. Guess we'll play that by ear. Meanwhile, I got something in the mail today...

:) Problem with money trees is that they're expensive. ;) In the box is a new bumper for the front of the truck. It's the Fab Fours Vengeance front bumper. SUPER excited to put that on. Should be getting my Rigid lights today too!
