The Taco has been able to maintain #1 over the years. The new 2016 Taco is heads over heels over the competition. If Ford was to re-introduce the Ranger , let alone a Raptor version, would only hurt Chevy IMO. A Ranger Raptor would be quite expensive and not cut into overall Taco sales. That's why Ford dropped the Ranger. I had one. A 2001 with the great Cologne V-6 engine (as in made in Germany). The re-tooling costs, setting up a new line to make a dis-continued truck is not cheap. Having owned a 2009 Tacoa, I can tell you that the Taco is superior to the Ranger. The Ranger didn't have too many aftermarket upgrades. But who knows? Ford and Dodge have pulled out a few rabbits out of their hats lately. I am assuming the powers that be at Toyota are paying attention. (Dakota sales sucked, can't see Dodge going there. )

I use to have a Ranger and it was a great truck and still going strong over 200k when I traded it in. The Ranger Raptor has been asked for primarily from the Australian market. They have shown a concept Ranger Raptor but only on the European model. I'd be surprised if we get one, or honestly if they ever actually sell them. I'm interested in the new Ranger but I don't think it will impact Taco sales. If anything I agree with @matluth that Chevy would be hurt the most.

I can't believe you just said that!!! Still interested in the new Ranger??? Pssssh! LOL.

I agree that the Raptor's look good, but wrapping a turd in a shiny wrapper is still a turd. That's why I'll never purchase a Ford or a Chevy or a Dodge......ever.

Lol, I'm not interested in buying one. The Ranger hadn't been updated since 1998. It will be interesting to see what they come up with.

There was nothing turdish about the Cologne V-6. Was a very impressive motor. The Ranger was well built, but as mentioned above had gotten stale. Just like the 1st gen Titan. I had a Chevy Colorado rental for a month and quite frankly thought it was a POS.
