Not the case on most quality ST trailer tires. If a trailer had the factory craptastic ones, I would agree with the 65 mph limit. My camper tires are rated at 75 mph and my flatbed ST tires are rated at 81 mph.

Great point to bring up and check to see what tire ratings are on all vehicles.

I just made a pretty good mistake with my truck tires and wheels. I ASSumed that the wheels and tires I purchased off a 17 Denali 2500 would be close in load rating. Well Discount tire will not even touch my truck now since the factory load index is 124 (3500 lbs rating) and the tires on the 20’s is a load index 121 (3200 lbs). So now I get to remove all four and get a balance and then take them home. That sounds like fun. Guess the Tacoma will get a workout. Lmao.

Looks like I’m going back to 18’s to get my load index of 124 minimum...and realistically 126 if I can. My off-road crew just purchased this today....so I’m gonna need it.

I wouldn’t worry about a TPMS system on a trailer. Two of my friends spent big money on these systems and they alarmed so much that eventually they just turned off the system. It is amazing how much heat is generated in corners while towing. They would see a 10 PSI increase in long sweeping turns (large toyhaulers).
Eventually, they figured out running better tires and slowing down in the heat greatly reduced blowouts (and checking every stop). Some of the guys I know in Texas just moved to 17.5” wheels, G rated tires. They have not regretted that one bit.

I have a 29' Jayco. We went MI to Yellowstone with a pile of stops on the way out and back (5,000 miles). I averages 8.6mpg for the trip.

Power and stability was never a problem! The truck would drive as fast as I wanted to burn gas :)

You will want to augment the rear suspension with airbags or a sumo spring or something.

If you are going to Big Sur make sure you check road conditions. Some portions of Hwy 1 have been closed.
