    Hello,

Trying to see what the TF1 and TF2 normal temperatures are, just starting to monitor / log mine. My supercharged 13 (Canadian) tundra shows a trans temperature higher than dead center (could be a bad gauge as the speedo was changed when it was imported back to the US). Previous 09 tundra and 08 sequoia were always dead center. Previous owner did have a trailer brake controller as I can see where it was mounted. Dealer did a good job cleaning up the truck...

Also trying to find what program to open the Techstream logs. *.TSE i believe?

I tried searching and did not find "normal or typical" temperatures for TF1 and TF2. When not towing.

    Thanks for any help!

Mine normally varies between 175 and 185, depending on outside temperature and speed. There isn’t much difference between the two sensors, maybe 5 degrees.

My normal in summer usually 185, and I've seen as high as 220. I installed the ultragauge in the summer so I'm not sure on winter temps. @reddragon is correct with only about 5* difference between the two.

So I am seeing way higher differences with my ultra gauge.

20+ between pan and TC. Temps up to 200 TF1/pan and 230 fpr TF2/TC. Towing a 4000 lbs trailer up I70. With trans cooler pinned open.

Doing a ATF swap the 18th. Hoping that helps.

Its my understanding these trucks just run hotter temps for the trans fluid by design. I was unloaded and not towing last weekend and coming up over a mountain pass I was spiking at 220*, my Tacoma over the same pass never got over 185*.

You doing a fluid transfer or drain and fill? Going back with Toyota w/s?

As far as I know, the sensors are located before and after the transmission cooler. Someone else may say differently. When I towed, I got as high as 230 for a short time until I dropped down a gear. It dropped back to 185-195.

Are thoses temps TF1 or TF2?

180's-190's seems to be where I was in 4th lockup, but outsode that temps were way higher. TF2 always higher unless in lockup.

Was going to do a flush. Either at dealer or at home by pulling one of the cooler lines with WS. Drain and fill seems useless due to so much fluid being in other parts of the system.

Is there a chance your supercharger would cause your truck to run warmer? I’m not familiar at all with their operation.

185 is normal for me when city/slow driving. When I get on the interstate and do "80" it'll go up to 195. If towing at "80" it'll go up to 210-215. Doesn't matter if it's 0F or 90F outside, those are the temps I've gotten consistently.

I think I remember reading somewhere that the transmission cooler doesn't even kick in until 240F, but I could just be pulling that out of thin air.

Yes the supercharger exchanger is partially in front of it. Been debating running a 2nd ATF cooler, but it would have to go in front of the supercharger radiator. The 13 has the trans cooler on top, portion of AC condenser. Crap design compared to my 08 sequoia which had a seaparate cooler.

I have read mixed temperatures that are OK. And mixed temps for when the cooler opens. My concern is I already have the trans cooler pinned open . I see temps in the 200's just driving up a hill in 70 degrees with a little foot pressure.

Your temps aren’t terribly bad. Unpin it and see if the 70 degree issue improves. You can send fluid through a cooler too fast, and it does nothing or less. Pinning that cooler is the same as removing your thermostat on your cooling system.

I have an ultra gauge. Both of mine will read the same generally with normal non aggressive driving until they are both up to temp. (I guess 185 is about normal for tundras because that’s where the one I have labeled as pan seems to be most of the time) once up to speed the one I have as torque converter will vary depending on driving, up hills and hard acceleration it will spike from 185/190 to 200-220 then settle back down to 185/190.

Ill do that today and see what happens. Hoping flow is different in the ATF system, as a stuck open thermostat in the cooling system = lower temps ALWAYS. Lat one I had was on my b5 S4, stuck thermostat = 70c coolant ALL the time, rather than 90c.

Yeah the pan is always lower, the TC goes up till lock up, then settles down to about the same as the pan.

Thanks all for the responses. It has still been driving me nuts. What really bothers me is that over 140f my gauge shows slighting right of dead center. No idea where the temp sensors are located if they could be "off" or if the cluster is.
