If you can get the PRO in the color you want. GET IT!

 

I know it’s not a pro one looking at going either way with it

 

Bought my '17 Pro nearly a year ago and have 17k miles on it. The first (likely last) brand new vehicle I'll every buy...and LOVE IT. Never in a car wash, but hand washed/waxed multiple times.

Loved the look of the '15's and saved for 2 years to buy this one. Flew half-way across the country on frequent flyer miles to save 3k off MSRP and drove it home. Best vehicle I've ever owned....

THAT BEING SAID, if someone was goofy enough to offer me 60k....it's sold. Heck, for that amount, I'll deliver it (after their check clears) and fly home! Then go buy a new Limited, which I don't like nearly as well, put a TRD exhaust on it, and bank the extra 10k.

Point is this...it's an amazing truck, looks great, and I get compliments on my "BAT" all the time. But, even the TRD isn't worth the crazy prices some people pay to impress strangers. Find something you like, TRD or not, that your brain/heart can agree on. Life is too short to drive something you don't like...

Hey Bernie if you can still get your hands on a PRO, I would do it. Being 17 was the last year, value will increase. Take it from some one that started with an SR5, went billy 5100, then PRO shocks, get the PRO. I know everyone has different thoughts on shocks, but the R&D in the billy PRO shocks is unmatched (in my opinion). I know the PRO is a 3 stage shock with built in bump stops, which actually allows you to remove the factory bumps and not cause shock damage at full compression. I am not recommending the removal, just pointing out facts. I turned my SR5 into a PRO and never regretted it. The ride was amazing both street and dirt. Good luck with all.

17 was the last year, except they've already basically confirmed a pro or pro equivalent for MY2019. The pro will NOT appreciate in value. It may depreciate less than the other trims.

Personally if you're looking at SR5 levels of equipment and upgrading, go straight to the pro if you want the suspension and exhaust as the price difference won't be much.

A big reason why resale on the Pro is so high is that the suspension/exhaust/cosmetic upgrades are built into the original MSRP (plus the higher typical sales price when new). Used prices are generally calculated as a percentage of original MSRP, and addons/options decrease in value faster than the base truck. A similar example is how after a few years the F150 Limited sells for significantly more used than a King Ranch optioned out to the same equipment level because all the addons get built into the base price of the truck.

 

This is my current issue.... buy a 2017 PRO in the color i want (Cement) or wait for the 2019's and get the color i don't want (white) but a truck that is 2 model years newer with some better options....

I actually like white but the cement is just a more unique color IMO... i will never get another black vehicle and i don't like the voodoo blue (old FJ color) that will come on the 2019's either

 

Get what you want, you can always install the fox suspension later and replace the fog lights with BD lights, which are the best. TSS stuff you can live without. To many nannies installed in new Tundras. Get the cement you will be much happier in the long run. If you find you don't like it trade it in for 19 Pro. Trust me the cement color is badass!

 

When they first announced the 17 Pros and Cement was a color option I knew I had to have one. I had one built and I couldn't be happier with the cement, it looks so nice in person and the ride is amazing. Good luck with your choice

exactly.... i've never owned a veh that keeps my in my lane or auto brakes and i'm still alive. I do like the headlights and as i've seen on the forum those can be added at a later date.

Not bad... could be a good deal for someone... I had that color of FJ and it was pretty nice.

 

Love my black but the 2 miles of dirt roads makes me wish i had a quicksand sometimes.

 

Dealer has that quicksand TRDP listed for $41,200 with over 40k miles. Makes me love my TRDP more every time i see one listed for sale. I can't imagine what they would list my 17 TRDP with 7K miles for.

 

Hindsight 20/20 and given the option, I would have bought the Pro as it comes with 95% of all the mods I want. I can and will add those to my SR5 (and it will probably end up be cheaper that way) but the retained value and cool factor of an actual factory built pro model would be worth the extra price IMO.

I went with the SR5 because I couldn't find the Pro model I wanted anywhere around here (DC in MGM or Cement) and if I could, it would have been more than I wanted spend at the time.

 

For what its worth i've found possibly 2 cement TRD PRO that were dealer demo or manager cars so obviously will have some miles on them. I'm waiting back on pricing info.... my dealer said ( and please correct me if wrong) that the PRO models are rarely if ever offered with discounts or rebates and usually sell at or above MSRP. Now i'm assuming because they have mileage on them i can workout a decent deal.

 

I paid MSRP. We saw them listed above MSRP 5-10k but I don’t remember anyone coming on saying they actually paid above sticker.
As a demo you should have some wiggle room. Just don’t let them know how much you actually want it.

 

hahaha never.... actually have somewhat of a connection to the dealership so they aren't pushing me hard or pressuring me too much and i've already said maybe i'll just wait till 2019.

Wow Watt, now you have me thinking back a few years ago about how many 69 camaro ZL1s were made.

 

So it turns out my dealer was wrong.... there are 2 WHITE TRD PRO's still available and not cement... so that is a major bummer. Like i said i don't mind white but if thats the case i'd rather wait and get the 2019.....sogh... guess i'll probably turn to the used market and see what comes up.

 

If I could’ve found a pro easily when I was buying my truck, I would’ve gotten it. Now that I know what I know I would think twice. And then still probably get it. I am not by any means a hard-core off road guy. I want to be but I don’t have money to be getting myself into that kind of trouble. The pro suspension is not rebuildable so that is a negative. But for my day-to-day use and somewhat frequent trail rides it would be perfect. Now if I wanted to build a hard-core off-road truck I would probably just get an SR5. Why pay for shocks twice.
