Not sure that I understand the question, do you want to fish in the park itself? I used to live in Tampa and there's a lot of great fishing in the area but I have no idea about inside the park. On a side note, there are a lot of big game animals in Bush Gardens but no hunting there for sure.

I have not done it, but have only heard good things about it. People who have done it said that the fish is always biting good. Mostly bass.

Funny you mention this. I am going to be down doing the whole Disney World thing with the family in a few weeks. My dad and I convinced my wife and my mom to let us escape one day so we booked a guided day trip on Lake Okeechobee - it's about 1.5 hours from Disney. One of the best bass lakes in the country.

Yeah, we fished it 3 years ago for 5 days straight. Best time ever. Lots of gators and other wildlife. A cold front came through when we were down so everyone was saying how "bad" the fishing was that week, it got into the high 30's at night. The "worst" we did was 55 fish between three guys out 6 hours. I will take that as a bad day fishing any day! We are fishing with the same guide this time as we did one of the days 3 years ago.

I don't know about fishing in the lakes on the park property. I do know that a lot of the golf courses around the area prohibit fishing. I'd be surprised if Disney allows it but it wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong. Lots of great fishing in the area - fresh and salt water - as others have posted.

The weather should be nice and the humidity reasonable for the next couple of months; this is the best time of year in central Florida (along with mid October thru mid December). It usually doesn't start to get real sticky until the second half of May.

Hope you enjoy your trip and watch out for the gators around the fresh water, especially in areas where some knuckleheads have been feeding them. Use sunscreen too.

Fishing at Disney World? Aerial would be a nice catch but Disney may have something to say about it, unless you :spy::mudding::plane:

Disney will allow you to do anything if you are willing to pay. They have guided fishing on their lakes which OP was asking about. You are not allowed to fish by yourself.

@Borgs you mind sharing that guides contact? I have my dad coming in late April and we were talking about heading to Okeechobee, but haven’t decided if we want to book a guide or just take my John boat.

Will do. Last time I was down this time of year it was cool, especially in the morning. The heat and humidity usually isn’t an issue this time of year, especially if you are coming from months and months of cold weather like I am and I welcome any heat and humidity now.

Yes, there are nice bass in the big lake by magic kingdom and fort wilderness. I think it’s called bay lake and they have held bass tournaments there in the past. There are multiple lakes around the area as well if you wanted more than what Disney offers.

We were down in March. We fished Okeechobee. It’s about 1.5 hour drive from Fort Wilderness Lodge, where we stayed.

Yes indeed. My dad and I caught about 50 in 5 hours. That’s actually a slow day by Okeechobee stabdAeds. Nothing big but lots of fun - Biggest was about 6 pounds

Unless you know Okeechobee well, or have a lot of time to figure it out, hire a guide.

We will be in Florida starting in Miami for some peacock fishing for a few days in June then heading to Disney for the opening of toy story land. Let me ask my sister in law about fishing At Disney. She is a Disney dream designer.

As has been said, you can fish on the lake by Magic Kingdom. I saw a few people fishing but didn’t see anyone catch anything - not sure how decent it is.

We went top water a little. Some jigs. But with only 5 hours to fish, and not knowing the terrain, shiners were way to go.
