Just read a post from last January about an owner having electric problems, which he eventually solved as a failed ECU. That reminded me of a set of problems that I have recently had which had similar symptoms of some lights working and some not, and the horn failing. After checking the usual suspects and replacing a couple of relays, still no joy, even after much research on the Web. I gave up and took it to my local Toyota dealership, which has done good work for me on other projects. The mechanics took a look at the junction/fuse boxes, finding acorn hulls, nest material, and tooth marks on the wiring under the fuse/relay panels and pronounced that I had "a rodent problem". $4600 to fix; fortunately most of that is covered by my insurance!

It's in your coverage for vehicle damage not caused by collisions. It's like someone unknown busted your headlights. Still have to pay your deductible, but it's covered.

This SOB caused about $3,500 in damage 2 years ago to my wife’s work truck. Insurance didn’t cover, but her company credit card did  Sent the truck to the dealer, they had it for two days replacing harnesses and plastic reservoirs. Brought it home, two days later noticed new damage. Set this trap, next morning, caught. Found his nest in the air duct underneath the wiper cowl
