Just a little History. My first Toyota was an "89 Toyota PU (Pick Up) with a 4 cylinder, 4 speed manual - Great little truck! I then picked up an '02 Tundra 4.7 L that I would drag our 26 ft travel trailer around with. It did good but you knew the trailer was there. We dubbed this truck the Tactical Tundra 1.0. A year ago I picked up the Tactical Tundra 2.0 - A '13, 5.7 L, six speed, Access cab, with the split bench front seat. Now pulling the trailer is soooo much easier, I barely know it's even there. Since the purchase I've replaced the standard mirrors with the larger towing mirrors, installed the topper, covered the floors with Husky floor mats (front & back), dash mat, replaced the factory stereo with a Sony double din satellite/Bluetooth stereo, and installed a K&N standard air filter. Being a Firefighter & Police Officer I've also installed lightbars in the front windshield and the back topper. I'm planning on replacing the interior and some of the exterior lights with LED's and possibly mount a set of LED reverse lights and some home made LED lights for the bed. I'll post pics from the projects as we go along.DSC05922.jpg DSC05925.jpg Tundra Ditch.jpg 0001.jpg 0005.jpg 0007.jpg 0010.jpg

Hahaha......I was at our firing range that day. I'd parked next to a small ditch and didn't think anything of it. As we were leaving I pulled up and got just a bit too close to the ditch. When I hit the brakes to backup, the truck slow rolled into the ditch bringing the ass end up in the air. Of course everyone took pics before 3-4 guys stood on the rear bumper and a tow strap was hooked up so I could back out. Not a scratch to the Tactical Tundra!!

I like your new Sony. What the down low info on that? Looks like model # WX-GT90BT?

You are correct sir, that is the WX-GT90BT. I was mainly after the Bluetooth and hands free phone functions. It does come with Pandora, Satellite, and USB/Aux hookups as well as a remote control. (Not sure why you would need a remote control, but why not?) I purchased it from Crutchfield right after getting my truck. The price was right around $200 and it came with install instructions, wiring, and cover plate. The hardest and probably longest part of the install was soldering the wiring harness together. Following the install sheets I took apart the dash, pulled the wiring connections from the factory stereo, and plugged in the new wiring harness. I freaked out a bit at this point because I pulled three wire jacks from the original unit, but only had two to plug in with the Sony system. I called customer support and they reassured my that everything was alright. The extra hookups were for unused accessories that weren't in my truck (backup camera, satellite, phone). Anyways, the rest of the install went without a single hitch and took less than an hour. It took a bit to figure all the features out, change the screen color to match the Toyota Amber/Red, and preset all my stations. The stereo has worked great and I love all the features. I usually play my music through Amazon Prime via Bluetooth. I've also plugged my Ipod nano into the Aux outlet with good sound. I would recommend this system to anyone wanting to upgrade without breaking the bank!

    BTW....It's now $169 at Crutchfield

Thank you Mike. Great write up. I do have the back up camera. I might call Crutchfield and get some more info on your Sony. Price is right.

Lol, I like the wheel in the air too. Could have been a bad situation. Glad it just made for an awesome pic instead.

If you have a back up camera, this unit isn't for you. No camera hook ups and no vid screen. Sorry

I don't really need the vid screen. Mainly looking to upgrade from the stock head unit. I have a 7" Magellan Road Mate nav unit that I use when I need it.
