I lost my set of keys with the key fob. I had locked the truck with the remote, so I used my spare key and it wont unlock the truck. I even pried the door open and pushed the unlock button on the door and that didn't work. Any Ideas!!!????

That’s no bueno. It’s a safety feature that the doors don’t unlock that way. No spare key?

Yea I kinda figured I am screwed. I do have a spare key but it only will turn to lock the door not unlock it. I cant even get into the engine compartment to disable the battery, if that would even work.

Slim Jim or locksmith may be the.next step. Many insurance policies have a locksmith clause in them to use one time

Wedge in the window between the window and the outer door skin. Use a fashioned slim jim to actuate the rod on the door lock. Either that or wedge in the door frame and a long rod to move the actual lock lever, not the button.

Call the dealer with your vin and drivers license - they may have you tow the vehicle in.

Did you try the passenger door too? You should definitely be able to unlock it with the key after locking with the fob but it sounds like there may be an issue with the linkage in the door.

It worked!! Thanks man I almost gave up......I taped a coat hanger hook to the end of an atv flag pole, wedged the top of the door open and was able to snag it just right...it unlocked and started right up. You guys are all great for trying to help me. I appreciate it.

An old blood pressure cuff works good for wedging opening also.

Congrats Bob, finish your thread by posting which route you went on replacing your FOB if you feel like it. I’m interested.

Glad you got it. That's why I keep metal coat hangers. I don't think they make them any more, so someday I'll be selling them for $50 a hanger, 2 for $99.

I would ask the dealer about the spare key not working. I believe it should allow the doors to be opened.

    Just a thought
