I've searched for a bit but haven't found the information I am looking for:

Backed out of the garage this morning and my driver side mirror caught the side of the door as I was pulling out. It popped the mirror back and busted the outer housing.

Fortunately it's the mirror that has auto-dimming, blind spot monitoring, motorized fold, puddle light, heated, and the turn signal, so I'd prefer not to purchase a brand new one for obvious reasons ($$$$).

Is there a way to purchase the housing from a lower model unit (say no power at all from an SR/SR5) and disassemble/re-assemble the portions that I need to?

Did you check aftermarket or used on eBay? If you buy OEM I bet they are pricey.

    Thanks for the recommendations!

Yes, checked e-bay, $350 for that exact one, claims $800+ new.

That's really my reason for wanting to try and rebuild the one that I have, it's mechanically and electrically in great shape, just that minor blemish where the housing cracked.

Buy the cheapest SR mirror you can find and transplant your internals. Did you check the classified section?

We had a 14 or 15 Sienna mirror that the BSM went dead in. That thing was close to $1200.00!!!!!

Yeah, I'm working on a cover that covers that plastic portion, $20, we'll see if that adequately fixes it (cover it up). If it doesn't, that'll be my next step.
