    Hi :bananadead:

    2018 TRD OR DC

2016 Wells Cargo Fastrac 6x12 single axle with brakes. (7pin)

    Factory @;:-(?)&(^* brake controller.

Trailer Plugged in: lights/turn signals work.

Gain is stuck on 0.0 and does not respond.

Tried every trick I know. Went over trailer and that’s good to go.

I’ve been looking at some posts here but can’t find one with issue like this. (Of course with mood I’m in I could have missed it)

    Any clues??

    Thanks and Merry Christmas!!

    Hi NoMo Taco,

Like the name, I just traded in my Taco for a Tundra as well :)

Anyway wondering if you figured out this issue or not??? Plugged in my camper this morning for the first tow and had this exact problem.

    Thanks!

That’s what the people demand, more electronic cool shit to break. Well played survey taking Tundra owners.

Give me a 17 CM LTD and I would be happy. Seems like the last of the perfect trucks.

Thank you, I'll contact the dealer and get it fixed.

Also loving the truck so far, this is my only issue although only at 1,000 miles ;)

Knowing about the brake controller issues with past models, I held my breath when I first hooked up my travel trailer to my '18 Tundra. Everything seemed to work correctly right away, and I breathed freely again...until I tried to adjust the gain. This button only works about one out of every five times. It's the craziest thing. I now have a service appointment scheduled, and I'm holding my breath once again. I was glad to find your post, @NoMoTaco. I'm hopeful that my issue will soon be resolved, as well. It's so disheartening having an integrated brake controller that doesn't work properly when the $70 model that I installed on my previous truck worked perfectly every single time.

I also am on the list of bogus brake controllers. I tried item twice on different days. Recognizes trailer is hooked up, able to select correct type, lights work, turn signals work. Gain does not adjust. I go in tomorrow to the dealer, hopefully they can get it working or replace it. I’ve had the 18 Tundra LTD CM TRD for 5 weeks and 600 miles now.

They know. All dealers know. If they don’t have one in stock to replace it they get it shipped next day air. (Mine was)

    Best of luck...

This is exactly why I just purchased a left over ‘17 instead of an ‘18. Redesign years can be trouble.

Brake controller is no big issue really. The collision glitch will be fixed quick.

    I’m good with the ‘18

Just got in from 11,000 mile/3 month towing trip. Great truck!

Brake controller gain is working. I never pressed hard to get it working. It is a dimensional problem of the mother board to switch. See attached comments from the tech.E414E419-7226-46F5-90D2-5962CD4B2C29.jpg. So much for QC.

Well damn, I don't have a travel, trailer right now but hope sometime in the future. Hope when I do get one my controller works or if it doesn't I am still inside my warranty. With the way I am racking up the miles though I doubt it.

Just got home from dealer for replacement of brake controller gain button switch, yes they just replaced the switch, didn't fix the problem, so they traced the wiring back to the lower left footwell plug, tightening and checking connections. Problem lessened, but did not solve the problem, they opened a claim with Toyota.

Just to clarify. I was not sure if the gain could be adjusted without a trailer attached. After the fix, I am able to adjust the gain up and down without a trailer attached. I hope this helps. You should be able to check the gain. It is a light touch to change the gain up or down.
