Finally got a chance to have the shop swap the transmissions. My current trans had 113K on it. Seemed alright but from what I'd read on the forums the 03-04 transmissions were revamped and more robust. The unit was purchased out of a boneyard in Kenosha from car-parts.com. Less than 50K on it for $400 plus $125 to bring it right to the fire station.

The good guys at National Trans in Portage flushed and replaced the filter and made the swap for $700. Its very tight and quiet. Couldn't be more pleased.

Towing the camper or bass boat won't be concern. I should be good for awhile.

Good to hear! That’s what I plan on doing if mine bites the dust, currently have 152,000 on it and doing a drain and fill next weekend. Did they have Anything special they had to do for the swap or was it easy direct swap?

This is a direct swap...only the internals and fluid type are different
