No bad they don't say "Restricted Military/Government Law Enforcement Use Only" anymore, those are worth big $$$.

Is there any reason why they are not in production anymore, the only thing its missing is the A1 stamp, whats the A1 mean, is that a negative!

The A1 designates the SOCOM profile which is heavier under the handguard.

Those M4A1 marked lowers command a premium these days.

Does the non heavier lower make it any less in quality!

    Thanks

This is the one I picked up from grabagun in November. The one from gun pro should have the same markings. I will let you know as soon as it comes in.4C765D78-D667-4EA2-BA3C-21964A95F289.jpg

The lower is identical other than the engraving. The difference is the barrel profile.

SOCOM M4A1 on top, standard “government” profile M4 on bottom.

Is the difference between the two because of M203 launcher capability?

Both are M203 capable with the right rail. The heavier profile is to help with sustained automatic fire. There have been a few instances where the regular profile was pushed too hard in combat and caused failures.

As a civilian with a semiauto rifle the need for the heavy profile really isn’t there. However the heavier profile barrels have shown slightly better accuracy.

In my opinion the lighter profile will suit the average user better and be easier to carry for extended periods such as LE work or hunting.

I only have one heavy barrel AR, and it’s actually Canada’s heavier profile military barrel, the C8 SFW. It’s a good shooter but I’d rather not have to carry it for extended periods.

^^ this man knows of what he speaks. If you ever want to try out some commie guns hit me up Josh. I might have a couple. Wasn’t it you who posted pics of a FAL/HK in another thread?

If I choose to build can I buy the Colt heavy barrel and build on the LE6920 or should I look for a Colt Socom 6920 used that has the heavy barrel, I would use this only for CQ not hunting!

Thanks. Yeah I have an HK91 as well. Hopefully I’ll add a FAL to the collection at some point. Really want one of those. And I’m definitely down for a range day.

Yeah definitely. You can usually find 14.5” Colt SOCOM barrels for $250 or so. If you don’t want to go the SBR route you can have an extended flash hider welded in place to bring the overall length over 16”. Colt 16” SOCOM barrels are kinda rare these days. But BCM sells them in both 14.5” and 16” length.

Realistically though the SOCOM profile is not needed unless you have a rifle with a fun switch and plan on running a lot of rounds through it fast.

Hell yeah, I’m in Richmond but work in Williamsburg let’s plan a range day sometime. It was your HK 91 I seen in another thread. I have a commie gun in .308 too. Those HK91s are fucking sweet weapons.

Yeah definitely. I have built most of mine except for my SBR. It’s easy if you have the right tools and follow the correct assembly procedures.

Thanks, I'll hit you up if I get confused with a build if I go that route but the basic Colt LE6920 sounds good!
