Today while driving home from work I looked over and saw that there is a huge scratch down the side of the trim on my passenger side door panel.:annoyed: I have no idea how it got there. Needless to say I'm pissed and I'm not sure how I can fix it. Can I get a replacment piece (paging @Roman) or should I paint it? If I paint it what should I use? My first thought would be black to match the rest of the door but I don't want it to look weird with all the other silver dash pieces. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Here is the scratch. About 8 in long and a little over an 1/8in wide.

I’d go with, “it adds character” and live with it. I do understand the frustration though.

Time to start searching on CG, ebay and used parts suppliers for a replacement

That's kind of where I'm at right now. Just wish it wasn't in a spot that stands out like a sore thumb every time I look out the passenger window..

Not a bad idea. Lots of people have done just that with some of the other silver trim pieces on the dash and console.

Not deep, paint would work but I have no idea where to get a matching color.

Most part store which sell paint have a reader which tells them what to mix. Any close silver will look better then that scratch.

So I was able to get the red color out of the scratch and it turns out there is still silver under it. There was one part of the scratch that was all the way through the silver and into the plastic but I was able to fill it in with a metallic silver sharpie and it's a pretty darn close match. You can still see the scratch if the light is right but it doesn't stand out so bad now. I found a vinyl wrap guy who will cover this trim piece in any color I want for $50 a side. I might have them wrapped black eventually, but for now I'm good with the results.

Up close you can still see the scratch and some other very small scratches, but at least it's all the same color.

Looks good again. If it was me I would leave the silver accents, they add a nice contrast to your interior.

Yea I think if I changed the silver on the doors I would have to also change the dash and center console.
