Right. With longer shackles, i see them push the pack down which compromises arch and flattens them quickly. I am no engineer but I’m on the same boat as you.

With your #’s probably a better idea for me to keep the rxt packs on 1st option. Just have to compromise my load out.

Have you ever thought about doing a bed cage? Yield more travel? I’ve seen some nice cages keeping the bed a bed. Only thing is $$
Did Rinzler have a bed cage?

But to answer your question no, I have no plans to cut into the bed for a cage in TRON

How has that kit worked for you? Do you know your overall gains before and after?

before what ever stock was..now with deavers and the kit 14inches of travel droop to bump...im strapped at 13inches with a 11in long limit strap..fab guy says allow for 1inch of stretch for every 10in of limitstrap once it heats up. i think going SUA with this kit you could get close to 16in under the bed, the deaver SOA leaf pack is atleast 2inches thick so you would gain that in uptravel. but you would most likely need bed sides..def with 37s, maybe with 35s...wont know until you try ;)

the only thing ill say about the kit when you order your bypass have them clock the bypass tubes to the front instead of out the side..my tire(18mm offset wheels) rubs slightly at full compression and its a bitch to adjust the bypass tubes with the wheel on, i can move the wrench in 1/8in increments to loosen the lock nuts on the tubes

the camburg kit comes with upper and lowers, the lowers require cutting of old shock mounts and welding, the uppers require cutting the old mounts off and are bolt on through the frame

Did you cycle through the suspension to figure where the lower needed to be placed?

yup deavers stripped to main leaf , you can cheat and use the main leaf from your stock pack so u dont have to strip the deavers, then bypass mocked up and axle cycled up and down to figure out where the mounts needed to go

I disagree with this to a degree - If the shackles are too long and allow the springs to go negative that is a bad thing. My CB+3 allow my Deavers to go negative and now they need to be re-arched again, but if I don't change shackles to correct size then it will just happen again and again. Key words as you stated "Properly designed shackles" I added them to solve a problem but created a different problem. Now i have decided to rip all of it out and start with something totally different.

Deaver recommends the TC size shackles which are 3/4" longer so that's probably as far as you can go. CB +3 are a lot longer I believe.
MCM shackles are good size too.

Right, I think with the longer shackle, it pushes the back portion of the leaf pack down that causes the "flatness". With time and some wheeling they will start going negative. +3 shackles on my stock packs went bad fast. Heavy load and wheeling helped them go negative fairly quick.
At least this is my thought on all this.

Well I don't run a standard Deaver pack nor do i run a normal bump - it was all experimental. LOL But I also don't load my truck all the time - my weight fluctuates by 500-600lbs sometimes. Doesn't matter at this point cause its all getting pulled out and starting from scratch with a new experimental setup.

Not quite a hijack - we were discussing shackles and leafs. Something Stefen was specifically talking about. And him addressing his rear setup.

I agree with you. I have left a constant load with the bed rack and tent sitting on there for a good minute.
They would've gone flat regardless. I just think they went flat prematurely.
I am now on the Icon RXT packs, with just the tent and the rack, I can see them sag already. Going to the Option #2 the RXT pack offers is probably what I have to go to. My shocks is the factor, as they won't keep up. I will loose a good amount of down travel and unloaded I would ride ass up.
Only time can tell. I really want to see @TRON setup in the long run. So far it's been holding up. Even just moving all his stuff @ that X amount of weight that pack is holding up.

No hijack here, I welcome the conversation. It does help to learn what setups work and what can be done to improve  I recently took 2 more loads to storage and officially moved out of our house in Tucson! I was alittle too busy and overwhelmed to stop and take pics but damn I am impressed with how well my leafs supported the weight of not only a full bed, but a full trailer. Once the dust settles I'll get back under the truck and see how the leafs are doing and if I lost any arch or lift

    Crown King - February 10, 2018

Here we go again! Last minute trip planned and we headed out early on a cool Saturday morning  This would be my second time running the Back way to Crown King Trail. We had a good group of trucks, but I was a solo Tundra on this run with @PLC721 riding shotgun.
