Backlit TRD Pro TOYOTA Grill Letters

Update. Had some letters 3d printed and some acrylic laser cut. I think I decided on using the led light strips and not the el wire. It's brighter and fits really well in the new deeper letters. Still tweaking it, still need to paint the letters so they block the light but I'm excited to see what it ends up turning out looking like.

May also think about roughing up the edges of the acrylic so it frosted, and refracts the light better.

im working on something similar for mine? Do you have a file for the 3d print of the letters or who did them for you?

 

Messes around some more. Definitely gonna use the 3d printed letters as they have more room for the brighter led strips. Also lined the letters with chrome tape to help reflect the light. Top pic of the O is one that I roughed up the edge of the acrylic with sand paper. Gonna have some more cut and have them laser etch the edges so it looks cleaner than using sandpaper.

Had them 3d printed by a guy I found on Facebook and had the acrylic laser cut by a local shop.

Got the acrylic back. Laser etched edges on the backside really makes em pop. Primer, and soon to be painted MGM.

Looks good I think you should have letters and backing made and sell them to people let them put the lights and paint them. Put me on the list for 2 sets.

2 coats of primer, sanded and 1 coat of MGM so far. And of course it's starts spitting paint spatters....
