Does your tundra honk when you put it in gear?

I just bought a used 2014 5.7 Tundra CrewMax. Love the truck but it does something odd. After starting it, when I put it in gear the horn sounds 2 times in quick succession. It does not do it again until I shut the engine off.

Is this some Tundra "feature"? Is there a way to turn it off?

    Thanks in advance!

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
    FCC,
I’ve owned a 2000, 2008 and 2017 Tundra and never heard of that feature. Sorry

Maybe it’s a remote start malfunction? Or Alarm malfunction?

Maybe it was a site work truck? Some work sites require a toot of the horn when engaging the drive train.

    Everything. Literally.
Haha. That’s awful. I saw a YouTube video once of a guy who wired his buddy’s horn to his brakes, somehow, so every time this poor bastard hit his brakes his horn would honk.

    Made my day, it did.

Back in the day when you could see the horns and easily run a jumper wire through the firewall, we used to do that all the time. Might take a little more work these days. :smash:

There had to be an aftermarket alarm in there at one point

    Not nearly enough room here!
That would get ripped-out as soon as I could find it:D. My 2010 just 'chirps' when locking but if it had any obnoxious horn-blast instead, it would be gone too.

Everytime I see this thread I crack up imaging the truck honking as OP puts it into gear LOL.

On a serious note, no, my Tundra does not do that. Any updates OP?

lol interesting. I've owned 2000, 2007, and a 2015 Tundras and none of them did that. It sounds like electrical problems waiting to happen.... you should get that checked out.

I'm glad I have given you a good chuckle, Watuchampion, but it really isn't as bad as that. It's to quick honks that re so short the horn doesn't sound at full volume.

Dingo, I don't think its an electrical problem - I think someone intentionally set it to do this. Its completely consistent happening the same way with the same causing every time.

Otherwise, no update - still haven't figured out what could be causing it but, also haven't had a chance to dig deeper into the issue. I want to crack open the hood and look for any kind of odd connection that may be been put in. Work's been busy and I kinda just ignored it. Will try to get to it soon and post an update.

    Welcome!
This isn't normal. As others have said someone must have installed an aftermarket alarm or messed with wiring for some other reason.

I am saying this is due to a prior alarm install. They tapped the horn line to the door lock actuator line so when the doors lock, the horn goes with it. When you change out of Park, thats where the power signal from doors also go to horn. I honestly wouldnt know and its a wild guess but look under the dash or your fuse box to see if any lines are tapped.

3” lift, black step bars, aftermarket wheels, LT305/55R20 was this way when I brought it.
I would take it back to where you bought it and have them look into it, no reason you should spend your time or money on something you just purchased. They can fix it right. The comment about a job site vehicle or something.
Now on a funny note the comment about the brakes connecting to the horn - love it
