I am about to install the AMP Power steps on my 2017 Toyota Tundra and am wondering if the hex screws supplied, would I use a standard or metric hex socket bit! It doesn't specify, only the torque settings, can I use either one?

    Thanks

Got this back from the AMP tech,

According to the manual, all of the tools required are metric with the exception of one of the Allen wrenches.

If you have any other questions, feel free to email me.

    Regards,

I guess I'll have to get a metric and standard set, I thought I could get by with just one set! I know it comes with 2 types of allan screws!

Probably be a good idea to have both on hand based on the list below. They are pretty cheap via Amazon.

By the way, the front page of my copy of AMP's instructions for the PowerSteps from 2016, show the following list of "TOOLS REQUIRED":

    TOOLS REQUIRED
    1. Measuring tape
    2. 13 mm socket
    3. 10 mm socket
    4. Ratchet wrench and extension
    5. 13mm end wrench
    6. Wire stripper / cutter
    7. 3/16” hex key wrench (allen wrench)
    8. 5mm hex key wrench (allen wrench)
    9. 4mm hex key wrench ( allen wrench )
    10. Electrical tape

I own at least 4 13mm sockets and at any point in time can only locate one. They are commonly used and a good thing to have.

Btw you’ll love the amp steps.

Yup, me too! Especially those 10mm sockets! For some reason they get tired and walk away...:(

Just take your time. I focused on the hardware on one side, then the other and finally all of the wiring harness. Took me all day, but I work slow...
