I believe you can buy and hook up a homelink mirror if you don't have one

or phone app. That's what I have. You can add the module to your existing garage door as well if it's an old one.

the GarageMate looks to have good reviews on Amazon. No experience with that particular model but worth a try.

My garage remote has three spots for different doors. Would that work?

I like the idea of using a phone app, until your phone takes a dump.

Glad my trucks have always had the garage door options.

I hate garage door openers. (Remotes) thieves break into your vehicle, snap a pic of ur address and take ur remote. You’ll never know until it’s too late.

Yep. If using a garage door opener, better take it inside with you.

with the app I can monitor status of the door and close it from anywhere or open it for any guests..it is pretty cool I gotta say and no need for remotes where someone could steal it from your car.

I may have to look into this. My wife’s Tacoma doesn’t have garage door openers either.

Then again, she breaks or loses her phone more than any one person should.

Light has to be blinking orange. Press and hold garage door opener close to homelink. Just pressing and releasing did not work for me. Once its saved, long press worked better on homelink.

Any chance you have a new garage door opener? If so, the homelink in your 2013 may not be compatible with the newer security features of the garage door opener. I believe it has to do with the frequency they use now.

That's why I have my ADT alarm setup to the garage as well since I still use the standard remote.

The issue I had was that the signal wasn't reaching the garage opener antenna. I made the antenna longer by attaching speaker wire to the opener's antenna and running it along the ceiling out closer to the door (about 10' additional). Now, the signal reaches easily. With my situation, it was weak reception at the garage door opener.

TRD rear sway bar, console organizer, stubby antenna, LEDs for cabin, cargo, license plate, and reverse lights, power-fold mirrors, Westin nerf bars, full stereo upgrade. Future - color-match grill surround/bulge, mirror caps, handles, plasti-dip badges.
I used to have a '14 Tacoma TRD sport that I traded for my Tundra. My '06 Tacoma had a pocket in the overhead console for the garage door remote, but the '14 had a 2nd sunglasses pocket instead and no home link mirror. I ended up taking the remote apart and found the 2 leads that trigger the opener and wired a momentary button to it. I think I found this in the TacomaWorld forums. When you short out the leads, it mimics the button press and opens the garage. I ended up using a programming button from a remote starter and installed it in a blank under the radio, then hid the remote inside the dash. Works pretty well to avoid the worry of someone breaking in and taking your remote and registration, and much cheaper than an aftermarket home link setup.
