Outside Air Temp probe location?

    Epic trip! Wish you and your family well there! Air Force had me temporarily in Alaska 4 or 5 times during my 20 career. I was there from 3 to 4 weeks at a time. Enough to know that it is beautiful, expensive and to cold for this Texas native! More power to ya!

    I was just looking through my "watched threads" list earlier, and wishing you'd post an update. Glad to see this 'proof of life'! And cool to know our sensors will read negative temps. This is the kind of knowledge I'm happy to learn from someone else. :drevil:

    Got my drive way & house site carved out of the woods this week. Been pretty mild this winter and the ground was not frozen too solid so I was able to do a little forest floor leveling and some tree/stump removal with a small JD excavator and skid steer.

    Warming up tomorrow to 18. Been negative 10 last two nights with only the high of 5 during the day. Ive gotten about 4 inches of snow this past week.

    The Big Black Moose has started right up at 7:00am ever day. Just been plugging in the battery overnight to keep it warmed up and topped off on charge and truck seems to be do fine. The set up has been perfect for up here and the LSD and rear are perfect.


    Ive seen a bunch of Tundras up here but they are all bone stock with old people driving them, LOL.

    Few redneck Dodge, Chevy, and Ford dudes that'd drive like crazy rednecks with big stupid tires and even stupider exhausts but not any modified Tundras around here.

    One complaint that I have is that the heater has never been anything to write home about. Takes forever to warm up the cab. My Tacos would cook you out of there in about 5 mins. Takes the Tundra about 25 mins of driving plus the warm up to get that hot. Wish that it was better. Didn't need that much heater in Texas bit sure need it here.


    Couple of pics from this afternoon before it started snowing. The mountains were lit up pretty nicely with the snow almost on top of me.

    About the heater, yes! I live in SoCal so, thankfully, there's no risk, only discomfort. But I make it most of my commute home on cold mornings before it even starts to warm. I wonder why?

    That sure is beautiful up there!!

    I've always thought about the heater seeming to not warm up a fast as some of our past vehicles may be a function of physical size and surface area. There's more interior room to heat, and there's more interior surface area in the cab that wicks away the heat. There's also the fact that there doesn't appear to be a great deal of insulation in the cabs. I'd say that for my standard cab, it probably takes 20 minutes or more of 45mph driving before the Auto Climate Control begins to slow the fan speed indicating that it's detecting the interior temp is approaching the set temp, in my case, rarely above 67°F.

    I just think that the heater sucks. Needs to blow full hot as soon as possible like my other past and present Toyotas.
