My next big move might be to upgrade interior lighting, puddle lighting, and reverse lighting which isn't bright enough for me. On the reverse lighting, not sure I need Baja quality at 50mph in reverse type stuff. I just wanna be able to clearly see through cam and mirrors where I'm going on a dark wet foggy night.

Based upon my truck's appearance, does anyone have recommendations on a style/brand of fender flares? I will want them in white.

Indeed, as the truck currently stands, they are spraying the sides pretty good with debris.

I like my Bushwacker made Stampedes although you may want to go with Wackers' wider coverage pocket style.

I just called Line-X in the South Puget Sound area. Since I'm installing some hardware into the bed of my truck, and yanking out the Toyota bedding, and putting an elaborate rack system on my truck I figured I should ask questions.

I got a quote for $500, and they suggested I do the drilling first for my later to be applied items. He said that drilling in later doesn't void the warranty as someone had warned me of previously. I was told the process is done in about 2 hours and can be done in any weather, the process cures very quickly.

The Wilco rack must me 2nd generation. The directions were a bit off but my two friends with mech skills figured it out and install was done in 2 hours. One bolt was missing from kit.

The advertising for this system is a bit low budget and the ordering process a bit unprofessional and a bolt missing. Other than that, this system is very damn nice and of very high quality with quality craftsmanship.

Also installed were risk racing bike mounts. The motorcycles are attached by clamps at the foot pegs. No tie downs needed.

The risk mounts need some better bolts... but the system is very slick. I can quickly remove from truck bed with 4 easy screws.

I’m going on a 5 week road trip through west USA and Mexico this spring and these mounts will be so much easier than last year!

The above truck rack is stout! Fantastic storage options up there!!

Next up is a BedStep2 for the rear. Please give feedback if you got any!

I also want to upgrade lighting, add flares, and other customs for my dirt bike stuff. Feel free to shout out suggestions or ideas.

Ok, so for folks that want a closer look on the Wilco rack.

FYI, was very impressed with the quality of the finished product.

The instructions had the first gen stuff, and missing one bolt. Otherwise, perfect.

Trucks coming along nicely! I like that rack!

As far as led bulbs, if you want the best get VLED’s. They are the brightest and I like the fact that you can get them in 5k color so it’s more white than blue. Gotta warn you they aren’t cheap! But def worth every penny! They have a sale that ends tonight I believe but they always have sales on every holiday.

For the front turn signals use the vled triton V6 w resistor so no hyper blink. You can also run the triton for the rear brake lamps.

For the headlamps you should either get a retrofit or oem 18 leds. Anything else is a waste. Stock fog location I can’t say enough good things about bajadesigns. Super bright. Not cheap either tho...

    @BlueBottle

Ok, thanks for touching base with me. Today I'm going to study your links and thread some more and come up with a shopping list!

Did find some used white Bushwacker fender flares for a very good price on Craig's List for $450, usually they go for 800 ish, so I figure I'll try them out and if I don't like them I'll sell them again.

    @1UPPER

Have been looking at your build thread... very impressive.

Looking at my truck, what suggestions do you have for a cool front headlight set up? Whitish, blueish would be nice, and my fog lights totally suck, and I'm really trying to find something that lights things up a bit more to the sides because if I'm turning sharply in the dark, there is no light being cast by the headlights or fog lights.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the kind compliments on my Tundra build! You've got a great looking Tundra! A few suggestions I would make for headlights. The new 2018 headlights IMO look great but they don't project as much light output as a high quality projector on the previous style housing. I currently have the morimoto DS2 4.0 but I've also heard very good reviews with other projectors. I went with the DS2 4.0 because they allow you to fit them into the stock housing without needing to cut. I'm still running the stock fog lights with LED bulbs. I don't recommend putting LED bulbs into a stock reflector. You get great light output but the light shines in all directions including the top of the trees. This ends up blinding oncoming drivers. For fog lights, I'm a fan of the Baja Designs Squadron Sport lights or the Rigid Industries Dually SAE leds. You can also do the Morimoto projectors for your fogs. As far as color of your light goes. That's a personal preference. I'm running 5,500 K bulbs for my projectors. Typically the more yellow the light output the farther the light pattern but I personally prefer a more white bulb. That's why some people go with yellow lenses on their fog lights. I hope this helps. Lots of great post on here for headlight retrofits.

Before Fender Flares and After. Some Tundras and their associated mods do NOT look good with flares, but some do. I bought these $850 flares for only $400 from a guy that had them on his truck for only a few months...they didn't look good on his rig. I'm very happy with how they look on mine! A fellow Tudra forum member helped me score the good deal on these...THANKS!

Was getting very tired of the mess the "no flares" were making on my truck. Hope this helps.

Yesterday, also installed Phillips LED headlights. Cost $200 and made a HUGE difference!! Glad I didn't spend $800+ on full housing etc...

Also installed the VLED lights inside the vehicle, the cargo light, and the rear white lights. Bam! From awful to awesome!!!

I didn't read @BlueBottle thread quite enough, and ordered the upgraded puddle bulbs...but they don't work. So, I used his post about the replacement (self contained units) and will order those asap.

I do want to upgrade my fog lights, but just the bulb. I really don't wanna spend boatloads on the housing and fogs.... so I'm assuming that perhaps Phillips also makes a bulb for my fogs? Input appreciated on this.

Next up, I'm going to figure out how to improve the acoustics in the vehicle by getting the car filled with foam etc. Input appreciated there too, I'm going to contact a car stereo company about that as soon as I know what I need to do, and a rough idea of what it might cost.

Also considering putting line-x UNDER my vehicle. I would think that would protect it from corrosion and also deaden noise.

My big West USA trip starts in about 6 weeks!!

I have the rig on bad gravel a fair amount, and I can power through the ruts and puddles with little a ripple on my cup of coffee! Nice stuff, and a great investment.

The truck is seeing plenty of gravel at Shelton Dirt Rider. A Private Off Road Vehicle club in Western Washington State. My son and I are out there each weekend building motorcycle and ATV trails.

I just ordered the Go Rhino RBG10 running boards with steps from auto anything. They aren't a discount item, but I managed to use chat and get a smoking deal as a new customer. $650 shipped. I've scheduled an appt with a local audio shop to have the doors sound deadened as they rattle like hell when playing music. Will see how that goes, as I suspect the stereo otherwise is good enough for me. I'm also going to line-x the bottom of my truck, got a quote for $350...seems pretty reasonable and the guys in my area Fife, Wa, did a nice job on my bed liner a couple months ago.

I'm very pleased with this website. The software here is fantastic and the members have been great, feel like I've saved a ton of hassle and trouble trying to get my ride set up. So many useful and helpful ideas here! Thanks everyone.

So, I spent $550 to have my doors stuffed.

    Wow, what a difference!

I had asked the folks at Rainier Audio in Lakewood Washington to come up with some stereo upgrade ideas

They told me that my premium JBL system was very good and unless I liked really heavy bass music, my truck needed nothing more than the sound deadening.

Pure Awesome! My stereo now sounds solid and the doors no longer vibrate and shake.
