Looked all over for one for my 1st Gen and couldn't find one (I had won a winch and was going to put it on)...not sure about availability for the newer Tundras.

I have the SDHQ hidden winch mount on my 2015.. I modified it slightly to allow for use of the Harbor Freight 12,000lb winch the entire install cost just under $1000. Not a bad mod and I am happy with the results.

The 12,000lb winch is. It has come in handy a dozen times pulling friends out of some deep mud. I have never had a problem with it. For the number of times I have used it for the deep discount price of $279.00 on sale. Its a tough winch to beat. I have not submerged it under water, but it has been used quite a bit without any issues.

I've always wondered about them. I was a bit sketchy on buying one thanks for the heads up.

There's at least 3 shops fabricating these for gen 3's. I have the SDHQ also.IMG_0178.jpgIMG_0179.jpg

Had to relocate the controls box, and then drill different mounting holes, then need longer screws to mount it to the steel. The front bumper lower grill needed trimming out so you could get your hand in to access the winch lever and then slight dremmeling to allow the cable guide levers to clear the lower grill. Just little things.

After doing as much research as I could without jumping off the back porch, the SDHQ hidden winch mount is next up on the steadily descreasing list of upgrades to the new '17 Tundra here. It looks like a high quality product. Using the Warn 8000 Lb winch, however, instead of the Zeon the mount is designed to hold. The Zeon is three times the money and twice the winch I will likely ever need. Thanks to SDHQ for investing the time and effort to bring us something this nice. Understatement is my thing. This is it.

It looks like you went with the m8000 by my read of your post. Have you installed and did it go well (what mods for the m8000, how do you access clutch, etc)? I’ve got an m8000 and was looking at this mount over a heavy bumper

Hey buddy. Glad you are researching it. The Fall arrived and I ran out of time to get my truck off the road. This spring I'll put on the SDHQ bumper and a heavier winch. Probably 10,000 lbs. I'm unconvinced the wireless is better. Too many things can go wrong. I like hands-on, manual, etc keep it simple.

Not something ill be using most likely. So i didnt want to spend hundreds or thousands on a bumper or hidden winch setup that still showed their was something there.

I used a universal harbor freight winch plate and some angled metal and started hacking away to make it fit on the truck and behind the bumper
