Hello there, I am in the market for a used Tundra. Found a Toyota Dealership near me selling a 2007 Double Cab SR5 4x4 and they are advertising it is a 4.7L. Is that correct, I thought it would be a 5.7. It looks like it even has the 5.7 badge on the side in the pictures it has on the website, but they’re a little to blurry to tell. Could someone please let me know if that is right or not.
Also, they’re asking $12,900, it has 140k miles, taken care of pretty well. And I’m pretty sure I will be able to get a good amount off with my military discount, would you recommend getting this? Thank you for your replies and time.

Welcome to the forum @FloridaBoy99 .

It certainly can be the 4.7, they came with an i force badge too but it won't say 5.7 in red, I think it says V8 in black instead.

As far as the price, etc.. Hard to tell without Carfax and pictures and a test drive.

Have you checked kbb.com for retail price and CarGurus, Autotrader, other dealers for similar trucks? Those are typically my go-to steps for determining if it's a good deal as far as price is concerned.

Yea definitely searched everywhere and it was considerably lower. Also carfax checked out, got into a fender bender but other than that has been maintained pretty well. Also is the 4.7L a solid engine in the 2007? A buddy of mine has the 4.7 in the 06 and beats it to hell and has almost 300k miles

4.7 was the lowest trim level on the 07, so should be much lower in price. That still has a timing belt. Make sure it has been changed and you are price checking that trim/engine. (Loved that engine in my 05, but no match to the 5.7 or 5.7 SC).

Thank you! Hoping this “should I buy” post turns into “look what I bought”, and that turns into years of posting on here all the upgrades and mods I have planned.

I learned something new today, thank you. Would you recommend buying it? I mean for a first vehicle it’s not bad right? Same engine set up as the 06 model also?

Seems a bit high. What are taxes and fees in Florida? In Tx, that $12,900 would be closer to $14k.
It is clean, dealer will more than likely sell it for close to that, easy financing......

I have my own loan, low apr and I’m going to negotiate from the $12,900 down. So after it’s all said and done I wouldn’t mind $13-13,500 driving off the lot.

It is a good engine and will run for a long time as long as it is maintained properly. Same as the 00-06 tundra and sequoia through 07. If the timing belt/package has not been for the 2nd time make sure it is done as part of the deal!

Truck looks clean. Check maintenance records and if you enjoy the drive and feel good, go for it.

Brochure here to read about that year: http://www.auto-brochures.com/makes/Toyota/Tundra/Toyota_US Tundra_CM_4x4_2007.pdf

Also pentagon federal credit union has great rates! easy if military.

Thank you for the information, how much is a timing belt and what is the skill level required to change one yourself?

IMG_0101.jpg I just bought a 2007 Tundra DC with 101,800 miles on it. It is only a 4x2 but a 5.7 engine. Extremely clean in and out, clean carfax, one owner and all maintenance records done through a Toyota dealership. Had the belts, brakes and tires redone at inspection and it cost me $15000, which was $3000 lower than any other place I could find for trucks that were not as well maintained. However, I'm in California and it seems everything is more expensive here. Looking at kbb and other pricing websites are a good starting point, but what is the market for Tundra's in your area, that really drives the price from what I have seen.

KBB does show it in range for a Dealership in your area. If you have your own financing you may consider private party sellers. It does require a bit more work but could pay off. Private party values on KBB are up to $2-3K less. (I believe "Stealerships" make a lot of money on used vehicle, just my 2 cents)

We recently bought 2007 from private party, it did pay off. It also required some hard work monitoring all the sites for auto / truck sales; (Craigslist, Facebook, Autotrader, CarGurus, etc.) about 4 months for us. It became a passion to find that great deal. I went ahead and got Carfax subscription for insurance. I also like to get a feel for the previous owner and how they took care of their vehicle. That one is pretty clean, probably well taken care of.

    Good Luck!

If you have your own finance I will look for a private seller, there’s a lot of tundras for sale in south Florida, I’m sure you will find a well taken care truck for a lot less.

If you can look into a private party and loan from the bank. If you have not looked at it in person, there maybe more damages. A quick look at the pictures I see dents on the bumpers and tailgate.
