    I just don’t get it. For the life of me, I live a pretty straight(ish) life. If I’m caught doing some of the (ish), I’ll take my licks and move on.

    I have been on patrol more that a few times, and quite literally seen officers let individuals go that had arrest warrants (non violent) and gave people a second chance that we’re doing the right thing (like not driving due to intoxication or vehicle no longer safe to drive).

    I do wish there were more severe penalties for injuring, assaulting, or murdering officers. Visual remembrance is a strong repellent for future would be thugs.

    This is the shit that makes me believe if we brought back some public punishment/ execution, a bunch of this kind of bullshit would decline pretty fuckin quick! Violence is ultimately stopped by an escalated violence, PERIOD!

    I was part way through the hiring process with a local police department until I was offered a job with my current employer (different industry, non-LE), but I honestly don't know if I would have what it takes to be in law enforcement. The amount of restraint officers are expected to have coupled with the extreme risk/danger present in every encounter would probably be too much for me to handle. Not only that, but the hate of LEOs rampant in today's culture (especially among my sad generation of millennials) makes the job that much more difficult and thankless. I have friends and family in law enforcement and it truly isn't a job for just anyone.

    I know all you LEOs know it, but I still feel like it's appropriate to say there are people out there that truly do appreciate the sacrifices you all make and the danger you put yourselves in to serve your communities. My prayers go out to this deputy's family and brothers & sisters in LE.
