    Yes.

I provide information with my installation instructions on how to connect the FRAC harness with a SwitchPros system. It takes three of the switchpros switches; Fwd cam, Aft cam, and VIM (if you have OEM Nav). There is an additional relay/diode harness required for the VIM interface. I provide the wiring instructions for that so you can build your own, or I can build it for you for an additional $25.00 plus shipping.

Has anyone used this camera for their front emblem! Didn’t come with instructions and there doesn’t seem like there’s a way to secure it in place except to use some hot glue or something! I also have the other version that sticks out a bit n it has a bolt and plate to secure it in place! Or am I missing something? 54A57678-687A-4E27-A45D-6AC377D17898.jpg

    Working on it :-)
I have both cameras and used the one that sticks out just for the same reason. I could not figure out a good way to mount securely.

I think a couple guys have glued it in place. You might also be able to use a small hose clamp type device installed around the camera body and behind the emblem to secure it in place.

Excellent. Takes some pics if you would. I've suggested that approach before, but I don't think anyone has tried it yet.

And you might need to fab a backing plate with a hole to fit over the camera body. This will give the clamp a surface to press against.

Being a "form follows function" kind of guy, my answer to that question is definitive... It depends on what's best for your needs.

Some cameras have CMOS sensors while others have CCD. Some have guidelines, others don't. Some are water-proof, others not so much. Some mount vertically, others horizontally. Most guys ask your question with the thought of quality and durability in mind, because you don't want a piece of crap that's going to die on you a week after you install it. For the range of cameras most folks are using, you're going to spend $10 to $30. As far as quality goes, this is pretty rock solid technology so there's not much that can break.

My $30 camera has been installed for a little over a year now and I use it every day. It's still working great and provides a great image. So my advice is to search for cameras on Amazon or e-bay, find one that suits your mounting needs (depending on your grill), buy it, and don't worry about it failing.

I'm guessing the extra terminal is for backlight illumination. You'd have to look at the data sheet to make sure. You can tie that lead into your dash lights.

Can anyone who actually DID install the flush type logo mount camera post a pic of what that camera sees? If you've read this whole thread, which I have, I think we've seen only 2 peeps go with the more flush option in the logo. We've also seen courtesy of @TundraTex that with the style that pokes out of the logo a little you can see down as far as +/- 1 foot out from the front bumper. So from what I can tell the pokey-outy cam is a solid install, works well and has a good field of view, but see's pretty close to the bumper. And the flush mount style is a less solid install possibly requiring some glue or other MacGuyver-type mounting solution. so i guess for me, if the flush mount can't see as close to the bumper as the one that sticks out, then its probably not worth the headache. so, @CarlitosWay or @TheBronze1, can you guys answer that question possibly? any info is greatly appreciated.

Also, @TundraTex, I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on a FRACv2 but I've completely lost my perspective on the timeline after reading this, @BlueBottle 's review and your various vids thru the process.... hahaha, So are you at a point now where we can just place an order? or do we still wait for groups to fill up? Seems like we just send you an email now with all the required info and go from there?

Thanks again everyone for any info.

I installed mine today. @TundraTex got it to me really quickly after I emailed. I installed the camera last weekend when I did my lights but just finished it. I pretty much cloned @BlueBottle’s install - same camera and switch locations in my 2017 Limited. FRAC is awesome! The image from the front camera looks great and it’s always annoyed me that the passenger can’t use the nav while the truck is moving. This is going to be so useful.

I have the same camera! I ended up hot gluing it in place cause there’s no way to secure it in place! It’s been in a few weeks now and so far so good!

Got mine installed in my 2016 1794 using a Noauka camera.
Which is a very nice unit for the price. According the the instructions it said to cut the green wire for front camera which was wrong. Has to cut the white for it to see image correctly.
Might change the camera because I was hoping to install it with the thread part horizontal instead of vertical. Being vertical made the install harder for me and ended up installing it into the lower bumper. Was hoping to install it in my EAG grill.
So if someone knows of a Camera like the Noauka but can be installed horizontal. That be great.

A little disappointed that my gps didn't work when disabling the VIM. Others have said their GPS still worked. Mine didn't. The arrow just sits at its last known location when VIM switch is flipped. I knew it was a 50/50 going in and probably best I don't mess with the Navi while driving anyways.

A little video showing its operation. Didn't realize how much room I had up front when stopping at lights lol.

    See fine print
Your supposed to turn the VIM back off after you input your destination so that your location will refresh.

Installed my camera, I got the one for the emblem like @TundraTex. Perfect fit. I didn’t like how you can’t really tighten the nut that holds it to the emblem, so I did it hand tight plus like 1/4 turn and I lock-tited it. I don’t have plans of un-modding it and the wire tail is short enuff to where it plugs into that red break out wire that it lands at the washer fluid tank. So I can just unwrapp/unplug it there to get the grill off in the future.
    5002838B-B2EF-48FE-B034-9939D5CEF733.jpg
Its goofy, but only if you stare at it... don't make it weird...

I also remember what a BEEEEEEYOTCH it was getting thru that stupid grommet/nipple/“mini-dink” (as @4x4_Angel likes to call it haha) thing in the firewall when I did the 2018 lights so I did my pop-n-lock at the same time. But my frac harness gets here tomorrow so I coiked everything up in the side panel til it’s here and I can finish.

I had a limited with only 1 spare blank in the dash so my camera on/off/on is going here:
    FD09A5AC-8B56-49C5-A1EC-A16F54863AEF.jpg

And I plan to just put the VIM switch here since there shouldn’t be clearance issues and I don’t think it’ll be an eyesore at all really if I do it cleanly.

Looking good, @slide187. I’m not sure if the camera switch harness is long enough to reach to the other side of the steering wheel where you are installing it. I don’t know of anyone else who installed it there. You might want to have some spare wire on hand to extend the three wires just in case. Let me know how it turns out!
