    Hello

I just got my first ever pick up in the stable - '18 TRD Off Road Limited

Probably my biggest question concerns whether or not to put a cover on the bed - (it has a sprayed in liner by the way)

For now my biggest reason for considering a cover is one of security and dryness for anything like excess baggage etc that I choose to put in the back. Security is probably the greater of those two reasons. Out of sight out of temptation - at least that is my mind set for using as storage as opposed to back seat although rear windows are darkened.....

So it appears I can go a couple of routes with a cover - a tilt up type cover or a roll away, or indeed nothing at all for now. I travel for a living so there will be periods where I leave it in an airport parking lot for days at a time. I will be hunting the site in the days to come for discussions on the merits etc of either, but thought I would throw the question out for your thoughts and advice.

I have made it to page 124 of the owners manual so will not ask specific techy questions until I have tried to absorb what lies within The Book!

    TIA

    Rory

The Bakflip MX4 seems to be a popular choice. Relatively secure, but if someone wants in they will get there. I'm sure those with covers will chime in soon!

I'm very happy with the Diamondback SE. Very secure and versatile as it opens from either end and I have the option of carrying stuff on top of the cover as well. Diamondback also makes several tool boxes that mount inside under the cover. Not the best picture but:

I would say diamondback or Undercover LUX SE if you truly want a weatherproof cover

Some Mods :) See build thread for details
I chose a rollup tonneau cover to have the ability to cover the bed and protect items but also be able to open it up to use it as a truck bed. Shells and hard tonneau covers don’t allow this unless you spend the time to remove.

The Roll & Lock is definitely a step above my Mx4 but, like you said it is expensive. It does look great though.

In search of tonneau and bed liner ...
Hi everyone - first post, new Tundra owner in Ky

I know there are many threads about tonneaus on the forum and I've read all of them I can track down. I have a question or two that I've not seen answered so far. I'm looking at the Bak Revolver X4 (very similar to X2) ...

If I have the bed loaded with gear, and it's been raining all day. I assume there will be some ponding on top of the cover. When I roll the cover forward, does the water dump onto my gear?

Is a cover like the RetraxPro drier in this situation?

    Thanks, experts!

I bought a Extang Solid Fold 2 and had it installed on my 2018 Limited Crewmax last month. Went ahead and had Extang Maxseal, which is a tailgate weather seal strip installed at the same time. Truck spent the next 2 weeks solid in snow and ice driving from Alabama to Indiana and then around Indiana and Illinois. After getting back home the weather has been about 50% wet. Back of the truck has been dry the entire time. As of today I am happy with the cover.
